I don’t mind that comparative religious studies are taught to give young people awareness of world religions, their similarities and differences.
You're an American, and that's the kind of the environment you grew up in. I'm a European. I come from Scandinavia, it doesn't get much more secular than here. And here we have complete freedom to form prayer groups if that's what we want. Like all other groups, the rules are simple that we don't disrupt other people's break and obey common sense, respecting the schools decorum. We were allowed to meet in one of the smallest classrooms and hold prayer sessions and fellowship. I honestly don't see why this should be a problem.
So I side with these Christian students, there's a problem with how 'freedom of religion' is being interpreted here. Instead of making expression free, its being made to restrict people's freedom in these matters without due reason.

As often happens, there are two sides to every story -- your article even refers to this one...

It is not known what Kalei did to cause the push back from the other students, and it's entirely possible that she bears some of the blame here.Last edited by Cow Poke; 11-15-2014, 04:17 PM.The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

“The whole episode is a sad and painful reminder of the formal and informal persecution, intimidation and harassment that atheists, agnostics and other freethinkers often must face.”
