  • This Should Make The Marxists Happy...

The Giffords were finally fined by the State of New York.

Cynthia and Robert Gifford are caught in a same-sex nightmare. They’ve been forced to defend themselves against claims that they’re lesbian-hating homophobes.

“We respect and care for everyone!’’ Cynthia Gifford told me. “We had an openly gay man working for us this past season,’’ she said.

“We’ve had a woman who’s transitioning to be a man. We don’t discriminate against anyone.’’

But the government of the state of New York sees things differently. The Giffords, who own the bucolic Liberty Ridge Farm in upstate New York, were ordered to pay a total of $13,000 — a $10,000 fine to the state and another $1,500 to each member of a lesbian couple to compensate them for “mental anguish.’’ All because the Giffords, devout Christians, refused to hold a same-sex wedding ceremony on the property in which they live, work and have raised a daughter, 17, and a son, 21.

“This is scary,’’ Cynthia Gifford said. “It’s scary for all Americans.” Fifteen years ago, Cynthia, 54, and Robert Gifford, 55, opened to the public their farm in upstate Schaghticoke, near Albany, where they’ve lived for 25 years. They host an annual, family-friendly fall festival, which ends Tuesday, offering such countrified fare as a corn maze and pig-racing shows.

He didn't. It is the mindset - using government power and law to force all the citizens to conform to a particular worldview. With the increasing loss of freedom.

It is has nothing to do with Marxism. Unless you are an anarchist you will be for the government to force all the citizens to confirm to a particular worldview in at least SOME cases. Notice I actually agree with you on this particular case. I just think it is wrong to blame Marx or Marxists for this

No, these liberals are socialistic in nature.

The definition of socialism is not non-anarchism.

Those two terms- "liberal" and "socialist"- are historically opposed.
              Don't call it a comeback. It's a riposte.

I'm neither a socialist nor a liberal, and I support the fine levied by the State of New York. Had this been an interracial couple which was being denied service rather than a homosexual one, there would be overwhelming support for the fine from all sides. Yet, the exact same law which protects the interracial couple is the one which protected the homosexual couple, in this case.

This isn't a matter of Marxists attempting to force new rules down the throats of good people. This is about enforcing laws which have already been in existence for quite some time.

It doesn't really matter whether the ideology used is correct or not, and to debate over it is pointless.

The fact is that this sort of thing is hoping yo become more and more common until the ONLY persons in this world with no rights whatsoever will be followers of Jesus Christ.

I call it the spirit of antichrist, since that is what ALL world views are, really.

Does that include the sums for "mental anguish"?

The awards for "mental anguish" were due to a civil suit brought on by those victimized in the breaking of the law. Why wouldn't I also support that ruling?

"Mental anguish" caused by a rejection that was somehow recorded by one of them. One might think they were expecting it.

Does the fact that they suspected that the law might be broken somehow change the fact that the law was broken and that they were the victims?

Does that imply that sufficient "mental anguish" was caused that needed monetary compensation?
