Except, of course, that THIS arrogant president "has a pen and a phone", and seems anxious to thwart the will of the people by trying to please his special interests.

Yeah, let's see how well that works with his pop under 40%....

We're not dealing with a rational human being, Teal... he's a narcissist driven entirely by his own ideology, and will use the office of the presidency for whatever he deems is in his best interest.

I have personally noticed what seems to be more support for Michelle Nunn than Mike Thurmond received in the last election (same goes for Jason Carter this year compared to Roy Barnes in 2010), which makes me wonder if Georgia amazingly might vote Democratic* in both the senate AND gubernatorial elections this year...but since the Republican side's anti-Nunn ads are painting her as essentially being a reincarnation of Obama, she probably won't win.

*not that I'd vote that way this year, as I don't know what to make of either side's candidates, but it would be VERY interesting if that happened.

Even so, he isn't gonna find it as easy to get what he wants when others have little reason to risk giving it to him.

I hope you're right, but he doesn't seem to be too "swoooft" in the "doing things the easy way" department.

                FF,

Just a quick side note on your title "Midterm Polls".... "polls" refer to the "opinion polls" or the "polling places" themselves - we generally call these "midterm elections" or "midterms" or "off year elections".

The "polls" (opinion polls) still seem to indicate that Republicans will take the Senate, albeit we might not have definitive results until after two of the states have their run-off elections.

He's closer to them, clearly, but he opposes Obamacare so the Democrats may only grudgingly accept him. He said he'd caucus with whichever party would be in the majority.

Have to disagree with this. It is just that he has used his competence to harm the United States.

This race may be seen as something of a broader referendum. (Of course, since this is Kansas, his opponent is a very moderate Democrat.)
This is just a symptom of what I fear for this nation. Unless government makes some drastic cuts we are going down. But even minor cuts make the wimpy American whine about how hard this is going to be. I am afraid the American people as a whole are lacking the guts to endure what it will take to save the nation from virtual (or even real) collapse.

The effects were hardly minor in this case; the state is projected to be bankrupt within two years.

Looks like it was a bloodbath for the democrats. Other than NH I don't see much that went well for them. Even Brownback squeezed through with a visible margin.

Unfortunately, it looks like Republicans are gonna take the Senate, which means they'll inevitably do something stupid like pass amnesty and ensure Hillary Clinton is the next president.

Quick note is duly noted, thanks. Sorry for the confusion. We are pretty much the same here in the slowly freezing up UK except perhaps that the word poll refers to the voting that results in an election. We also talk about “going to the polls” and the places where you cast your vote (local schools typically) are called Polling Places. Opinion polls are samples of voter intentions.

BTW it is a little worrying that some research has indicated that opinion polls influence the vote to the extent that some voters became less inclined to support a party whose chances of winning seems slim.
