Since the issue of assisted suicide has been in the public's eye for the last few days, now is a good time to look back at a 2008 article, where an Oregon cancer patient received a letter from the state saying that they would no longer pay for her cancer drugs, but that they would pay for her to kill herself:

These pressures, which may come from the government, from one's family, or even from one's inner conscience (if they feel like an economic burden), are one reason why I do not support legalizing assisted suicide.
