A PUBLIC execution of a random Australian was designed to shock the community, a Sydney court has heard.
Details of the alleged plot have emerged as the first man charged after this morning’s terror raids has appeared in Sydney Local Court on a charge of conspiracy to commit a terrorist attack.
Lawyers for Omarjan Azari said he would make no application for bail.
Prosecutors allege the plan to commit the act was designed to “shock, horrify, and terrify” the community.
“I don't think I’ve seen much worse,” a prosecutor told the court.
Mr Azari’s appearance follows a series of raids across Sydney and Brisbane and allegations of a plot to behead an Australian and upload the act to social media.
While the claims remain unconfirmed, Channel Seven reports one the men charged in this morning’s raids in Sydney planned to kidnap a random Australian, execute them by beheading in a public place, possibly Martin Place in Sydney’s CBD, and film the act and post on social media.
“Police believe this group had started planning to commit violent acts in Australia. Those acts related to random acts against public,” Australian Federal Police Acting Commissioner Andrew Colvin said.
Further reports have emerged terrorists planned to drape the victim in an Islamic State flag.
In court the prosecutor said there was a plan for Mr Azari to commit extremely serious offences, and determination to do so.
Mr Azari’s lawyer said the allegations against Azari were based on “one phone call”.
His case was adjourned until November and he will remain in custody.
Speaking from Arnhem Land, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he was briefed on the counter terror raids before officers swooped this morning.
The Prime Minister said there were “quite direct exhortations … coming from an Australian, who is apparently quite senior in ISIL to networks of support back in Australia to conduct demonstration killings here in this country”.
“This is not just suspicion, this is intent,” he told reporters in Arnhem Land.
Mr Abbott said he would be returning to Sydney later today to be briefed on the raids, following visits to RAAF bases to farewell Australian troops bound for Iraq.
He insisted he would like to return to Arnhem Land — where he has been spending a week — but he couldn’t make a “specific commitment”.

The extremists arrested in Australia's largest counter-terrorism operation were planning to snatch a random member of the public off the street in Sydney and behead them, police told Daily Mail Australia, in an attack bearing the brutal hallmarks of the Islamic State.

Fifteen people were detained in pre-dawn raids on homes in Sydney and Brisbane by NSW and Queensland state police and the Australian Federal Police. Just one has been charged so far, with serious terrorism-related offences, and was due to appear in a Sydney court later today, police said.

"Police believe that this group that we have executed this operation on today had the intention, and had started to carry out planning, to commit violent acts here in Australia," AFP Acting Commissioner Andrew Colvin told reporters in Sydney. "Those violent acts particularly related to random acts against members of the public."

OPERATION APPLEBY: THE FACTS
On Thursday 18 September a series of pre-dawn raids were carried out in what has been declared as Australia's largest ever counter-terrorism operation.

IN SYDNEY

• 25 search warrants were executed

• 10 warrants were undertaken in relation to vehicles

• 800 NSW police and AFP officers were involved

• 15 people were arrested

• One man has been charged so far with serious terrorism related offences

• Homes were searched in at least 12 suburbs in the city's north-west including Beecroft, Bella Vista, Guildford, Merrylands, Northmead, Wentworthville, Marsfield, Westmead, Castle Hill, Revesby, Bass Hill and Regents Park

IN BRISBANE

• A series of raids related to last week's raids in Brisbane were carried out

• Police are investigating links to the Sydney terror suspects

• 70 officers were involved in the raids

• Last week two men were arrested in Brisbane and appeared in court charged with terrorism-related offences

• Homes in the Brisbane suburbs of Mount Gravatt East, Logan and Underwood were raided as part of the coordinated operation on Thursday

I think that the problem has more to do with how it has become horribly politically incorrect to want immigrants to assimilate into the prevailing culture. The entire melting pot concept has been thrown out in favor of a balkanized system where it is a point of pride to only speak your native language and declaring oneself a hyphenated American (or Australian) is a badge of honor.
