  • WWII Vet Declines Private Meeting with Obama on D-Day Anniversary

The last line of this article, which I have bolded, sums up what my own Dad, also a WWII Vet, feels about Obama:

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Are you saying that they are misrepresenting George Ciampa?

I'm always still in trouble again

The reason it resonated, Jesse, is because I just spent a week with my Dad, who is also a WWII vet. He expressed the very same sentiments as the last line of the OP.

Would you like to mock my father, too?

Heard a joke once where William F. Buckley's experience of purgatory was being forced to read every modern issue of NR, cover-to-cover, until the quality of the publication improved.
              Don't call it a comeback. It's a riposte.

I'm curious to see you answer rogue's question. I'd also be curious to hear more about your issues with National Review (I don't really know anything about it).

Thank you for this fair and helpful response.

Just to satisfy my curiosity: what news sources would you personally recommend?

Speaking of which, one of Buckley's more successful recruits has recently weighed in on the Bergdahl swap. This is David Brooks, the conservative half of Brooks and Shields, a writer recruited very publicly by Buckley while he was still in college, based on a satire he'd just had published in one of the campus rags. According to Brooks, Buckley, speaking on campus to a large crowd, asked who wrote that piece, because he wanted to give him a job.

                      Anyway, here's the piece.

National Review is a decidedly conservative publication, and makes no bones about it. Unlike much of the MSM, they tell you EXACTLY who they are and what their agenda is.

But, BECAUSE of who they are, anything they print must necessarily be untrue.

                            I figured as much.

Still, I'm curious what lao tzu would recommend as alternate sources of news.
