  • Trump alleged to say Coronavirus 'a good thing', called his supporters "disgusting'

Per a named, first party, lifelong Republican, top aide to Mike Pence. You can see her say these things in the video in the linked article.

"When we were in a task-force meeting, the president said, 'Maybe this COVID thing is a good thing — I don't like shaking hands with people. I don't have to shake hands with these disgusting people,'" Troye says in the two-minute video. "Those disgusting people are the same people he claims to care about. These are the people who are still going to his rallies today, who have complete faith in who he is."

"The truth is he doesn't actually care about anyone but himself," she said.

In an interview with The Washington Post published Thursday, Troye said Trump's pandemic response showed a "flat-out disregard for human life" and that he was more concerned with the economy and his reelection than with protecting Americans.

"The president's rhetoric and his own attacks against people in his administration trying to do the work, as well as the promulgation of false narratives and incorrect information of the virus have made this ongoing response a failure," Troye told The Post.

Trump denies he ever met her, which is insane given that she attended the Coronavirus task force meetings. Pence has said she is a "disgruntled former employee" which is likewise ridiculous since she's blowing up her career by coming out with this.

Or, you know, perhaps it has more to do with the president's well-known germaphobe tendencies.

Kind of a long standing thing.

Trump has a long history of germaphobia, which has sometimes hurt his business. Jack O’Donnell, a former president of the Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City, N.J., recalled how Trump didn’t do well with some customers in the late 1980s — because he hated shaking their hands.

“Customers wanted to be around him and they didn’t understand when he didn’t shake their hand,” he said. “They would be like, ‘What a rude guy. I put my hand out, and he turned it down.’

“People would approach him as he’d walk through the casino to get to the offices and he hated that they touched him,” O’Donnell said. “He was always that way.”

I know Trump is germaphobe. Allegedly he doesn't like condoms though, which is kind of selective.

Yes. So it is reasonable to conclude that all of this is in reference to the germaphobia. Though, it seems that you are dead set on trying to make this into something it isn't because someone who got fired told you what you wanted to hear.

She was in the room so I'm just going with her take as she states explicitly in the linked video. If he had left off the part about "disgusting people" I'd be a bit more amenable to your interpretation, though I think joking that COVID could be a good thing, under any circumstances, is beyond the pale for a president. It would be beyond the pale for any politician, for that matter. Find me another elected official who has said something like that and I'll condemn them for sure.

Keep the "bombshells" coming, I say. Too many shells lobbed before the traditional "October surprise" are likely to produce an "October dud".

She's the one saying who the "disgusting people" was referencing. And how could it not be his own supporters? Does Trump shake hands with very many democrats?

With people early voting/mail voting, is September the new October?

Toddlers and pre-Ks are also widely regarded as disgusting people, as well. I don't blame anyone who doesn't want to shake hands with or otherwise come into contact with them (disgusting people in general, not just toddlers).

And I have a trusted source that says Trump stomped on puppies. He called them "yucky".

Do you consider that a presidential thing to say?

This named, first party, lifelong Republican source was Pence's chief aide to the Coronavirus Task Force who is blowing up her career to come forward. It's far beyond "just my opinion" to consider her credible.

She'll be a paid commentator on CNN or MSNBC in short order.
