The fact is that your claiming that the Republicans control New York because they occasionally gain control of the State Senate is so far off base that it is indeed wronger than wrong since the governorship has been in control of the Democrats since 2007 (and Republicans have only held that office for 13 of the last 50 years) and the other house of the state legislature, the Assembly (which is the equivalent of the House of Representatives) has been controlled by the Democrats since 1975.

It would be like claiming that the Republicans controlled the U.S. government when they reclaimed the Senate in 2010 while the House remained firmly in the control of the Democrats and Obama was president.

To continue to assert that you're right is an example of weapon's grade stupidity couple with a level of arrogance rarely equaled. It is the Dunning–Kruger effect squared.
I'm still waiting for Starlight to answer my question although maybe the question should be. When did he last live in America? Since unless he has lived in America he can only have an outsiders view of America.

And it isn't even controlling one branch of government but controlling a part of one branch since their legislature is bicameral in nature just like the federal legislative branch is. So controlling the New York Senate for most of the last decade while the New York Assembly (equivalent of the U.S. House of Representatives) has remained in Democrat control since 1975 does not amount to even controlling one of the branches.

My point about Cuomo remains. He betrayed the Democratic party by arranging for a small group of Dems in the NY Senate to defect from their party and caucus with the Republicans. And he did this in order to create a Republican majority in the Senate, in order to ensure any Democrat-leaning legislation that the NY Assembly passed would be blocked. His goal in doing this was primarily to protect his rich donors from having any legislation passed which might raise their taxes in order to help the common people, and secondarily to protect his political career by meaning he didn't have to openly veto such bills.

The whole thing was scummy, and Cuomo is an enemy of progressives and of the Democratic party. He should resign in shame and join the libertarians.

He also sucked at handling Covid.

I don't think it's Dunning-Kruger in that I suspect he knows he's wrong but is loathe to admit it for whatever reason.

In today's news, the state is now delaying until near the end of March before they will release the number of people that died in nursing homes from Covid. The health department is still studying the data. This sure looks like it's being slow walked until no one cares.

It's like they're hoping that by then the vaccine will cause rates of infection far enough down that the whole thing becomes yesterday's news and people are focusing on something else.

For that matter, have you noticed how stories about the China flu have almost completely disappeared from the news cycle since the election?

Not in my neighborhood. The local paper and local news stations have it every day. Admittedly some is news like restaurants are being allowed to reopen even though we're in an orange zone. But Covid news and Covid sickness/death counts are still around pretty visible here.

Its probably out of the national news because they all piling on OMB right now.

It's the WHO, so it doesn't really matter.
