You do actually because action precipitated by media firestorm and "popular outrage" is insufficient to claim the decision was bad. It's also not quite what happened in this case since it wasn't the popular outrage per se that led to a change, but the dissatisfaction of the students and parents the school serves.

It's also possible to implement the right policies for the wrong reasons. If the administrators made the decision based on the outrage of people like seer rather than on close consultation with and consensus among the members of the school community, then it was for the wrong reason.

I don't actually care whether they pursue one type of event or another, since, as someone far outside the situation, I can't actually judge which particular policy is best for them. My posts in this thread were, at their best (though perhaps not as much as they should have been), more motivated by disgust at the irrational outrage than a belief that I knew what was best for the school and its students.
