      Horowitz testifies:

Cruz: “A lawyer at the FBI creates fraudulent evidence, alters an email that is in turn used as the basis for a sworn statement to the court that the court relies on. Am I stating that accurately?"

Horowitz: "That's correct. That's what occurred"

      Graham:

A lawyer (Clinesmith) supervising the FISA process at the FBI doctored an email from the CIA to the FBI, he's being referred for criminal prosecution." Doctored email altered the fact that Carter Page was working as source for CIA, not for the "Russians".

Sen. Lindsey Graham on FBI surveilling the Trump campaign: “Let’s put it this way, if you don’t have a legal foundation to surveil somebody and you keep doing it is that bad?”

      IG Michael Horowitz: “Absolutely.”

      Graham: ”Is that spying?”

      Horowitz: “It’s illegal surveillance.”

So now that the IG report is out and right-wing conspiracy theory number 10,001 has bitten the dust, I guess the posters here will finally acknowledge that no, there wasn't a giant deep state conspiracy out to get Trump, that actually the FBI was anti-Hillary more than it was anti-Trump, that actually the investigations into Trump and his associates occurred because they genuinely appeared to be committing crimes?

But it seems that no matter how many thousands of reports or pieces of evidence we have, the right-wingers here will remain stuck in their right-wing-media-propaganda bubble that tells them to not believe their lying eyes, that really all the crimes the Republicans keep being convicted of are really somehow crimes that were committed by Democrats.

          Look who's back.

The report has vindicated Republican claims that the Steele dossier was the basis for the FISA application, contrary to the lies of the Democrats all along. There was a criminal alteration to eliminate the fact that Carter Page was a CIA asset and not a Russian agent, and 'evidence' was not properly verified before submission. All these are still perfectly coherent with a deep-state coup.

Maybe you want to admit something though, after 'Trump Jr going down!!!!!!!!!' never happened, and the Mueller investigation was such a nothingburger they're not even using the report for impeachment, instead using the latest Ukraine nothingburger.

It is nonsense to have all this fuss while the crime is still in progress:

NEW YORK — A business associate of Rudy Giuliani charged with conspiring to make illegal campaign contributions should have his bail revoked because he tried to hide that he has the means to flee the country, prosecutors said in court papers filed Wednesday.

The prosecutors in federal court in Manhattan accused Lev Parnas of misleading authorities about the extent of his assets when he was released from jail on $1 million bond - secured with $200,000 cash - and put under house arrest in Florida following his arrest in October. His lawyers asked the court earlier this month to loosen the restrictions by allowing to leave his home during the day.

The government responded on Wednesday by telling a judge that the Ukraine-born Parnas should be put back behind bars because he “poses a significant risk of flight for several reasons, the chief among which are his considerable ties abroad and access to seemingly limitless sources of foreign funding.”

Parnas failed to disclose that he received $1 million from a Russian bank account in September, prosecutor said. Bank records also show that same month he spent more than $70,000 on private air travel, they added.

The defendant, “who is already charged with making false statements, appears to have made false or, at best, inconsistent and materially misleading statements ... to the government about his assets and income,” the papers say.

There was no immediate response to email on Wednesday seeking comment from a lawyer for Parnas.

Parnas and another man charged in the case, Igor Fruman, worked with Giuliani to try to get Ukrainian officials to investigate the son of Democrat Joe Biden. Both men have pleaded not guilty.
Trump has never stopped criming since he was in nappies.

Yes, he's quite entertaining. And Horowitz responded well to him.

                    James Comey:

[Horowitz is] right. I was wrong. I was overconfident as director in our procedures of the FBI and Justice have built over 20 years years. I thought they were robust enough. It’s incredibly hard to get a FISA. I was overconfident in those because he’s right, there was real sloppiness — 17 things that should have been in the application or at least discussed and characterized differently. It was not acceptable, so he’s right. I was wrong.

Sure, I’m responsible, I was overconfident as director in our procedures, and it’s important that a leader be accountable and transparent. If I were [still] director, I’d be saying exactly the same thing that Chris Wray is saying, that we are going to get to the bottom of this because the most important question is, is it systemic? Are the problems in other cases?

Comey's lie might have had longer legs if one of the Republicans hadn't asked Horowitz if his report vindicated anybody, and Horowitz said no.

                          Schiff backpedals

Rep. Adam Schiff admitted Sunday that the FBI committed “serious abuses” of the foreign surveillance court process in order to spy on Carter Page, though the California Democrat stopped short of acknowledging he was wrong to defend the bureau and in his promotion of the infamous Steele dossier.

“Given what you know now … are you willing to admit that you were wrong in your defense of the FBI’s FISA process?” “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace asked Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

“I’m certainly willing to admit that the inspector general found serious abuses of FISA that I was unaware of,” said Schiff, referring to a Justice Department inspector general’s report that found the FBI made “significant” errors and omissions in applications for FISA warrants on Page.

Schiff insisted Sunday that he was not aware of the FBI’s omissions when he defended the bureau.

“I think it’s only fair to judge what we knew at the time, not what would be revealed two years later. But yes, there were very serious abuses of the FISA process. They need to be corrected, we need to make sure they never happen again,” he said.

Despite those claims, Schiff had access to the same information that Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee cited in their Feb. 2, 2018, memo that blasted the FBI and the Steele dossier.
Comey and Schiff retreating is a good sign.

Well well... I wonder how many have forgotten that this investigation is still going on?

On Friday, the Department of Justice released newly declassified information from an inspector general report on Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) abuse, revealing for the first time that the FBI had received information indicating the Christopher Steele dossier contained Russian disinformation. The newly unredacted portions of the IG’s report also confirmed there was no “network of sources” backing up Steele’s reporting.

While both revelations provide further fodder for attacking the Carter Page surveillance proceedings, the significance is much greater: These facts establish the FBI used Russia’s meddling with the 2016 election as a pretext to investigate Donald Trump and the special counsel’s office was complicit in this ploy.

                                ...

Specifically, the IG discovered that the Crossfire Hurricane team had received reporting “indicating the potential for Russian disinformation influencing Steele’s election reporting.” And in 2017, the Crossfire Hurricane team received a report highlighting Steele’s inaccurate reporting concerning activities of Michael Cohen.

The Crossfire Hurricane team was told that portion of Steele’s reporting was assessed to be “part of a Russian disinformation campaign to denigrate U.S. foreign relations.” A follow-up report, also from 2017, asserted that “public reporting about the details of Trump’s [redacted] activities in Moscow during a trip in 2013 were false, and that they were the product of RIS ‘infiltrat[ing] a source into the network’ of a [redacted] who compiled a dossier of information on Trump’s activities.”
