Yeah, that's another thing - liberals push "doing something" even if it's the idiotic wrong thing, then make excuses to blame everybody else.

Those aren't examples of social engineering.

Why? I think it accurate to say that those examples have become accepted, and we cannot imagine going back.

The traditional values (referred to previously) mandated a separation of races to some extent. Few really knew whether full rights of citizenship could work out. Which is why civil rights ebbed and flowed throughout our history.

Equality was long resisted; in health care, education, military, equality and equal access was deemed unworkable because the equality of nature was not recognized. Even as late as the fifties, hospitals in many cities had duplicate facilities and staff. The history of education is well known. The military resisted full integration, many thought it unworkable because there was no tradition of using black men as a fighting force was untried, the only examples were exceptions. (Even though each war, almost, had examples of black fighting units which acquitted themselves excellently. They were still the exception)

Each step in the road to civil rights was an example of social engineering, and resisted because it was social engineering.

Romney's a RINO, Trump is actually trying to roll back some of the progressive changes.

How are we supposed to communicate meaningfully yet concisely?
Chesterton summarised conservatism a hundred years ago, it's an attitude that conserves whatever changes the progressives made a generation ago. It doesn't actually conserve anything in the long run, not even bathrooms.

Good, you recognise the picture. What do you learn from it, about force, power, government, and what the military will do during a theoretical dung hits fan scenario?

Our military is drawn from society.

A look at the events in Little Rock is illustrative that the system works. The Arkansas National Giard did follow orders to barr the black students from entering, a fact which guardsmen have thought about, especially those in Arkansas. But it is important to note that even when the situation was volatile, they did keep their cool and did not act as a mob.

The picture is of 101 division troops escorting protesters away from the school, with fixed bayonets. But they also recognized they were under the microscope, and did not cause a fiasco. (a big difference from Kent State). Training today better prepares National Guard troops for crowd control and riot duties, not sure if regular army or reserve troops are trained. The fixed bayonets were used as a picket, not offensively.

I take it you have not served in the military from your low view of American men and women under arms.

Maybe I should ask what conclusions you draw from the events at Little Rock about force, power, government, and what the military might do when the kimchi hits the fan.

Creating regulations that make building new buildings expensive, which drives up the price, which prices people out of the housing market.
