I don't recall there being one, in Battle Royale. Been a while, though.

There was some political stuff in battle royals, but it was more a film about how people can be turned against each other.
      Danganronpa also comes to mind.

Right, it's essentially a very violent Japanese version of Lord of the Flies that was eventually tamed and remade into Hunger Games.

Never heard of it. Annnnd....just looked it up and it's anime, which explains why I haven't.

To be honest this film will have much the same reaction that I got from the purge films namely a shrug as I go back to play fire emblem.

I thought the first Purge film was...meh (I really like Ethan Hawke, so that helped), but I really liked the second one. They went downhill from there pretty fast though.

Adrift you might be right. The trailer seems to be siding with the victims as they are being chased by the "bad" guys.

But then the bad guys might be the "conservatives" chasing the "liberals" - judging by the scene of the country store where they lied to the runner about where they were. The store owners looked like stereotypical conservative rural folk. It was hard to get a real feel from the trailer of who was who.

It looks pretty dumb either way.

That seems to be the point. That folks will do horrible things to each other for what they believe to be good or expedient.

I don't know the context of course, but it seemed to me that the store clerks were in on it with the Liberal elites (they were working for the Liberal elite), and the girl was country enough to know the difference...or something. I guess we'll find it out when the film comes out.

It'll be interesting to see if it is satire or left-wing revenge porn.

                        This is synopsis from Bloody-Disgusting.com

                        https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/...umhouses-hunt/
While details continue to be kept under wraps, Bloody Disgusting exclusively revealed that the film is about a bunch of working-class individuals being hunted down Battle Royale style. It was described to us as 1953’s The Most Dangerous Game meets Battle Royale with shades of Belko Experiment. Collider recently confirmed this by adding:

“The film follows a group of ‘rednecks’ who are captured and hunted for sport by rich, liberal elites.”

“Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.

“In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Gilpin), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (Swank) at the center of it all.”

Damon Lindelof (who I can't stand) and Hillary Swank are involved, so I'm certain there will be some sort of anti-Conservative twist. Probably that it's all a dreamed up conspiracy theory or something.

The Hunger games would be closer to the current reality, though without the actual games.

Kathy Griffin claims she can’t get work following her photoshoot with a decapitated and bloody Trump head, but don’t let that fool you. Hollywood clearly still likes the idea of promoting violence against people who aren’t good and obedient leftists, because Universal Pictures is set to release a thriller called The Hunt on September 27, which features left-wing “elites” hunting Trump supporters for sport.

In the past few days we’ve been hearing a lot about how Donald Trump’s rhetoric is apparently to blame for the El Paso shooting, yet Hollywood apparently lacked the foresight to think that a movie promoting violence against “deplorables” might be in bad taste until after the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, as only now is Universal rethinking their promotional strategy for the film.

"Did anyone see what our *******-in-chief just did?" one character asks early in the screenplay for The Hunt, a Universal Pictures thriller set to open Sept. 27. Another responds: "At least The Hunt's coming up. Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables."

In the aftermath of mass shootings within days of one another that shocked and traumatized the nation, Universal is re-evaluating its strategy for the certain-to-be-controversial satire. The violent, R-rated film from producer Jason Blum's Blumhouse follows a dozen MAGA types who wake up in a clearing and realize they are being stalked for sport by elite liberals.

Over the Aug. 3 weekend, ESPN pulled an ad for the film that it had previously cleared, while AMC ran the spot during the season premiere of its drama The Preacher. It's unclear whether the ads were identical, but the one yanked by ESPN opened with a sound resembling an emergency broadcast signal. A rep for ESPN parent Disney declined to comment on the move, but an ESPN source says no spots for the film will appear on the network in the coming weeks.

According to THR, the movie “features guns blazing along with other ultra-violent killings as the elites pick off their prey.”

                            https://pjmedia.com/trending/hollywo...t-by-liberals/

Sounds totally unrealistic. Where would these elite liberals even get guns much less be able to use them?

But it shows the outright hate that Hollywood has for Trump and his supporters. I don't think we are the "deplorables" here.
I mean... didn't Kevin Smith already do something similar to the reverse of this in, "Red State?" I haven't seen it, mostly because I've heard it's boring and hamfisted.

I've seen Red State, and it isn't really about conservatives hunting liberals, it's about a Westboro type church who kidnaps a couple kids who meet a girl for group sex, or something. The girl is actually a member of the church and part of the trap set by the church. And then it goes into this weird fake-out rapture thing. Again, the closest reverse parallel to the film Sparko is talking about that I've seen is Surviving the Game.

I think it's just smart film makers capitalizing on the current political hype and knowing how much controversy it will generate. Controversy + politics + film = success.
