In CP's case, "all marriages." I know that to be untrue because my marriage doesn't depend on "yes dear." (and yes, I know he was probably joshing - and so was my response).

As a general rule of thumb, I have found that "superlatives" are a fairly decent indicator of an untrue statement (i.e., hyperbole, outright lie, or just an error). Notice how Trump uses them extensively.
Ah so that superlative [bolded] means you are not telling the truth then.

On the positive side, I was able to take my mind off work for a minute or two. I was trying to show you something you didn't want to see. I keep forgetting how willfully blind you can be, and keep hoping that THIS time, you might actually see the point. I will try not to make that mistake in the future, but hope springs eternal.

"As a general rule of thumb" is not a superlative.

        Best is a superlative
        Most is a superlative
        Always and all are superlatives
        Every is a superlative

A superlative has nothing beyond it - it is the pinnacle.

And "iron clad rule to always be applied" is a superlative.
A "general rule of thumb" is a guideline - it "generally" applies and is "generally" true - there is no claim to "always."

That being said, the habit is a hard one to break. I try to avoid superlatives because they are seldom accurate. But I do sometimes slip and I actually appreciate it when someone calls me on it.
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

A worthy goal and one I find Tweb useful for as well.

                              • Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) deleted the year-old tweet announcing her DNA test results, it was discovered on Wednesday.

Warren – who claimed to possess Native American heritage, Cherokee, specifically, over the course of her academic career – deleted the infamous tweet announcing the results of her DNA test after PJ Media columnist Jim Treacher wrote a post titled, “Happy Anniversary to Elizabeth Warren’s DNA Test!” on Tuesday...
