So what we have is, “He drank a lot in college!” Like 90% of American college students did.

You can't separate it out like that. If he's guilty, it's a sad but necessary consequence. If he is innocent, it is wholly unnecessary that they have to go through it. This is - to this point - he said/she said. There is just not enough evidence to know for sure which side is mistaken in their testimony. There is nowhere near enough evidence to be sure one of them is actually lying.

My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

No. That was yet another thing Kavanaugh lied about during the hearing. He significantly misrepresented what Ford's friend had said and did so multiple times. Her friend's account is that she doesn't remember the specific party and doesn't remember meeting Kavanaugh but that she believes Ford.

It would be very easy to assume he's "angry", but a lot of his comments are, in fact, dry humor. There are times when I cringe when he weighs in on something, because he can be quite blunt. (His email address even includes the word "grumpy")

When we had the incident a couple years ago when a complete stranger needed a liver transplant (I had been made aware of this need, checked out the story, and decided our Church needed to help in some way) I made it known on a Sunday Morning that this family needed $9,800 just to get him in the hospital for a liver transplant.

It was this "angry man" who came to me after the Service and said, "tell that lady to get her husband in the hospital, I'll stop by the Church in the morning with a check". That Monday afternoon, I had the privilege of sitting down with the wife of the critically ill man and hand her a check for $10,000.

I would FAR RATHER interact with somebody who was direct, and you knew where he stood, than somebody who never seemed to be able to answer your questions, and leaves you guessing.

          Just saying.

The only physical evidence after more than 35 years was Cavanaugh's calendar. And he was tasked with proving a negative, which is never fun.

He is doing FANTASTIC!!!! He is on the East Coast as we speak doing assessments for insurance claims. Before he left, he told me (crying) I'm so glad I have the opportunity to help people, and to have an impact for people in crisis. He has consistently been an incredibly giving individual, fully appreciating what was done for him.

              Thanks for asking.

So again, must have been some party for her lifetime best friend to forget the night their friend was almost raped.

not only that but it was clear when listening to them yesterday that the democrats have already made up their mind that Ford is telling the truth, so why do they want an investigation other than to cause more delay? And as was said in the hearing any Senator can ask the FBI for an investigation on their own if they want. What they want is a public circus to distract and delay the proceedings.

I absolutely can, and frankly I find it disgusting when people don't. A entire family is not responsible for the actions of a single member. People who conflate one person with their family are just being ridiculous and I find it pathetic that US conservatives do it so often, especially when they are accused of a crime and want to evade personal responsibility.

There is nowhere near enough evidence to be sure one of them is actually lying.
There is plenty of evidence Kavanaugh lied multiple times throughout his hearing today. His college acquaintances are attesting he lied about his degree of drinking, and that he lied about the meaning of 3 out of 4 terms in his yearbook.

                      • I watched most of the hearing. I caught both opening statements, but missed chunks of the questioning of both of them. Keeping in mind that I don't fancy myself a judge of character or whether somebody is lying:

I thought Ford seemed credible. It sounded to me like something happened to her. But I also thought Kavanaugh sounded credible (more belligerent than I would have liked, although if he's innocent I can understand why). So I don't think Ford is lying, but there do appear to be some holes in her story, and the elephant in the room is the whole "presumption of innocence" thing that seems to be getting beaten to death.

Yesterday was a circus, but not because of Dr. Ford. I get the impression this has gone very badly for her, and I feel bad about that.

The "miracle" he refers to is the fact that he was never supposed to work again, and was going to be on disability. He is remarkably healthy for somebody who was a "dead man" just a few years ago. When he refers to getting his "life back going again", he's referring to the fact that he's making really good income as a supervisor of disaster recovery insurance adjusters.

are you serious? Having her husband being believed to be a rapist by congress and much of the country doesn't affect Kavanaugh's wife? or his daughter?

yes - I, too, thought Kavanaugh had some "haughty" moments that weren't necessary, but, yeah...

That's the tragedy, you lunkhead - they're not responsible, but they bear the brunt. Can you REALLY be this insanely jackwagon nutty?
