  • Paranoid super rich hedge fund managers

I've seen a few people reference this article, from a futurist writer who was hired by a group of super rich hedge fund managers to speak with them. Basically, these people believe there's going to be an imminent collapse of society, whether from global warming, resource depletion, nuclear war, or whatever, and want to survive.

Here's where we see a good example of the sinfulness of greed:

This single question occupied us for the rest of the hour. They knew armed guards would be required to protect their compounds from the angry mobs. But how would they pay the guards once money was worthless? What would stop the guards from choosing their own leader? The billionaires considered using special combination locks on the food supply that only they knew. Or making guards wear disciplinary collars of some kind in return for their survival. Or maybe building robots to serve as guards and workers — if that technology could be developed in time.
    Creepy, eh?

So basically, they're ready to implement feudalism/mini-dictatorships the moment government collapses. I am approximately 0% surprised. I bet they are nearly all 'libertarians' who think there should be no government.

The University where my wife works --- all the employees know that BEFORE THE STUDENTS arrive for each semester, make sure you have all the toilet paper, beer and milk you need, cause the shelves will pretty much be bare.

(Mrs CP is perfectly OK with there not being any beer available)

My grandmother is both a staunch old-school Southern Baptist and a, well, to be blunt, a cheapskate. I'll never forget the time we visited her and she found a six pack of beer abandoned along the side of the road. She took everybody in the house aside to privately explain, then used it for cooking.

I remember when the fad (many years ago) was washing your hair (women) with beer and eggs. My wife explained that she was simply attacked by a bunch of bootleg chickens!

Dang, I remember using a beer-based shampoo many moons ago.

I'm always still in trouble again
