Fox News prosecuted for fake Seth Rich conspiracy stories by own investigator

The detective who was employed by the right-wing fake-news conspiracy-mongers to investigate Seth Rich's death, is now suing those who employed him on the grounds that they lied to the public about everything.

The "Seth Rich conspiracy" was invented by various Fox News affiliated people, and was the idea that DNC worker Seth Rich, who was murdered during a robbery, was the one who leaked the DNC documents rather than the Russians. This was a useful cover story to feed to gullible right-wingers at a time when Russia was being fingered for helping Donald Trump and working against Hillary. Various posters on this forum drank the Kool Aid big league at the time.

The writers of the bogus Seth Rich conspiracy stories made up entirely false claims that this detective had found something significant, made up and published entirely false quotes attributed to him that he had evidence connecting Seth Rich to the leaks. Fox News later retracted the story.

This detective is now suing Fox News, the Republican mega-donor who was bankrolling the project, and asserts he was personally told that Donald Trump himself had read the article draft and was pushing for its publication.

What he told FOX 5 DC on camera Monday regarding Seth Rich's murder investigation is in clear contrast to what he has said over the last 48 hours. Rod Wheeler has since backtracked.

Typically, "prosecute" is limited to those conducting legal proceedings, i.e., lawyers (though in the case of the state, the state both institutes and conducts legal proceedings); "sue" speaks to private groups instituting legal proceedings.

While my link was to Rolling Stone because their summary is decent, there are plenty of other outlets covering the topic. I guess to you, nothing's real news until your Breitbart team have got together to decide what lies to publish about it.

It's a Lawsuit, but this is a quibble and ignores the ultimate fake news story:
