  • Border Crisis summed up in a nutshell

Western Lensman sums up the border (manufactured) crisis and the Democrat agenda in under two minutes...

    Video clip

And I would add to #1 which we have seen demonstrated: use federal powers to fight against any governor or state entity trying to uphold the law to prevent this.

The assumption that migrants necessarily lean democrat seems weird. Polls I've seen have tended to show Trump ~6 points ahead of Biden among Hispanics. Maybe it's Republicans doing the importing-voters? While Hispanics have tended to lean mildly Democratic in the recent past, they've never done so to the degree that Jewish and Black people have typically done.

The Dems don't seem to be playing ball with encouraging immigration. Biden was proposing the toughest border bill ever that would let him (or Trump if he wins) completely shut the border.

You'd think that if the Dems thought migrants would vote for them, they'd be wanting to do some Amnesty bills so that those migrants could vote. The Dems don't seem to be doing that. Also, you'd think the Dems would be encouraging immigration from areas of the world that would lean more Dem (e.g. Europe) if they thought getting immigrant voters was a way to win.

Generally speaking, the video lays out a potentially plausible path to victory, but it's just not, factually speaking, one that the Dems appear to be actually taking. Someone could import a whole lot of immigrants that favor their side and get them to vote and win as a result. But the current immigrants don't appear to favor Dems, Dems are actively trying to reduce their numbers not increase them, and they can't vote and Dems are not trying to make them able to vote. So, yes, it could theoretically be something someone could do, but the Dems are not actually doing it and are doing the opposite of it.

The claim about the census and house seats is interesting and I would like to see analysis of it from a reputable source. Elon Musk also brought it up in his recent bonkers interview with Don Lemon. Given factors about the Senate and the Presidency favor Republicans over Dems for those (disproportionate sizes of states + electoral college), it wouldn't seem unfair at face value if that factor about the House favors Dems, but it would be interesting to know if it was actually true.

You seem to be confusing legal and illegal immigrants. The legal immigrants will naturally oppose the fact that illegals are being given free reign and free stuff just for illegally crossing the border. In fact, I suspect legal immigrants who went through the process of being here legally to feel the most indignant than any other US citizen, including republicans, about what's happening.

I agree that seems to be what is happening (the various things in the video), but I seriously doubt it is an organized plan or strategy with "steps"

I think it is happening (immigrants flooding into the country) and the democrat party is taking advantage of it wherever they can, but it is beginning to backfire. The democrat cities can't handle the influx. They thought they could flood Texas and Florida, but Texas and Florida were not going to have it and shipped the immigrants to democrat cities. So the democrat voters are now against the immigrants (NIMBY) and especially with immigrants getting all of the welfare money.

I believe that's on purpose. To many on the left, there is no difference.

And Biden is losing the Hispanic vote partly because of that.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

This is 100% false, but you're gullible like that. The border bill that recently made its way through Congress did not grant any new authority to the administrative branch and was nothing more than an empty promise to start enforcing existing immigration laws if Republicans would agree to continue funding the Russia/Ukraine quagmire. That is to say that if Joe was serious about border security, he could shut it down this very second using laws that are already on the books.

Which totally explains why the GOP wasted time, money, and effort in pretense of good faith negotiations:

WASHINGTON — Republican senators made it clear Tuesday that they will kill the border security bill their party negotiated with Democrats, a stunning turnaround less than 48 hours after it was released by Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., and blessed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

McConnell, R-Ky. — overruled by his Senate GOP members, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and former President Donald Trump — conceded it has no path to passage.

“We had a very robust discussion about whether or not this product could ever become law. And it’s been made pretty clear to us by the speaker that it will not become law,” McConnell told reporters. “So I want to congratulate Sen. Lankford on a remarkable job of negotiating with the other side, getting the support of the Border Council. But it looks to me, and to most of our members, as if we have no real chance here to make a law.”

Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., put it more bluntly: “The bill is deader than 4 o’clock.”

Within minutes of the bill's release Sunday, Republican senators began coming out against it. By Tuesday, opposition had reached a fever pitch, including from within McConnell's leadership team. It became clear they would not reach the necessary 60 votes to break a filibuster when the bill comes to the floor Wednesday. That means aid to Ukraine and Israel will also be blocked for now.

“We crafted a bill that was too effective. We reached a compromise that would actually fix the problem. As it turns out, Republicans don’t want to fix the problem. They want to leave the issue of immigration open as a political agenda item to exploit," Murphy told reporters. “It’s also dispiriting because there used to be a difference between the Senate Republican caucus and the House Republican caucus. There is no difference. They are just as dysfunctional. They are just as tied to President Trump.”

It's not as weird as you think. Democrats have long championed themselves as the "big tent" that accepts everyone, regardless of skin color, and champions of rights, while painting the GOP as Klan-lite white supremacists who hate brown people. Illegal immigrants, crossing the southern border are "brown" and therefore champion their cause. They've been lighter on immigration that republicans for a long time. While they might have called for controls (for example, Obama), they also tempered that with pathways for citizenship. And many Hispanics did get drawn in with that thinking. This democratic outlook accelerated leftward under Trump, as many democrats and liberals tried to make themselves as diametrically opposed to public statements and policies of Trump as possible. We saw an explosion of "sanctuary cities" publicity stunts (AOC crying at an immigration facility fence to an empty parking lot), California's attempt to keep contractors from working on the wall by declaring any who did so would be ineligible for California contracts, etc. They all-but declared open border support through their actions, even if providing lip-service to having immigration policies.

Then, things went south in Venezuela. This has caused an influx in immigrants and is largely responsible for the current surge in immigrants, as well as the crunch that cities are feeling. Before this, many of the illegal immigrants already had support or family in the states. So, when they got here, they quickly disappeared into the aether of family/friends/support. Those coming from Venezuela don't have that existing support, which is why so many are ending up in shelters. Gov. Abbot's busing is a publicity stunt, but it worked. It drew attention to migrants, and people started noticing. Some might blame his bussing on the issue that other cities are facing, but his busses are a small fraction of those coming in and making it to those cities. It also turns out that the old-guard illegal immigrants (or their kids who are citizens) aren't exactly thrilled with the Venezuelans coming in. It's many of the same stereotypes that were thrown at them, being uttered by them towards the new-wave of Venezuelans. "Lazy" "Taking our jobs" etc. So, this has perpetrated a shift in Hispanics towards Trump and Republicans.

However, now that people ARE noticing it, and the shift in Hispanics opinion, has caused people actually demand Biden "do SOMETHING!" about the issue. This has lead to the democrats 'reading the room' so to speak, and actually back away from their Trump-era actions, and start talking like republicans in many ways, or at least, going back to their pre-trump stance.

If you think President Trump has that much sway over a party that has fought with everything they have to defeat him in the primary -- first backing Ron DeSantis, and then Nikki Haley -- then you simply haven't been paying attention.
