  • Trump Wins Argentine...

You really have to find some of this guy's videos, makes Trump look like a piker...

Javier Milei crushes Argentine left, becomes world's first libertarian head of state

Trump-like Javier Milei won 56% of the vote, and 20 of 23 Argentine provinces, in decisive win over Economy Minister Sergio Massa

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – How can the current economy minister of a nation with 140% inflation and 40% living below the poverty line win a presidential election? It turns out that he can't, at least not in Argentina.

Libertarian outsider congressman and economist Javier Milei, of the Liberty Advances party, won a decisive victory tonight over the establishment's center-left candidate, the Peronista Sergio Massa.

But how long will he live?
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Trump. A libertarian? By what measure?

I'm always still in trouble again

Trump? Trump-like? Lol trump is not remotely libertarian or anarcho-capitalist.

It'll be interesting to see what he does. He made a lot of promises on cutting government, if he even manages a quarter of that, it'll be a good step. Not something I've ever seen before with an anarcho-capitalist getting that much power. I just hope he doesn't let us all down.

If he does even a fraction of what he had put forth I suspect the CIA will be there within months to try to foment an overthrow

I would worry more about China, they had a cozy relation with the leftist government which seems to be out the window now...

Inflation was at 140%. I can't really fault the Argentine voters for trying extreme measures, even if I think there's almost zero chance this guy will do anything good.

Meanwhile in the US... inflation is at 3.2% and conservatives are beating their chests in despair at Biden's perfectly-fine looking economy.

Plus this guy liked to dress as a politically-themed superhero. What more could anyone want in a politician (sarcasm)?

You say conservatives, but the number of multiple polls against Bidenomics say otherwise. Those aren't all just conservatives, which is why the limousine democrats are mystified by it.

Given his education and work background, what makes you say that?

Inflation cools as spending slows down due to higher prices.

Anyone who walks into a grocery store can see the ravaging effect that Bidenomics has had. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the cost of store-bought food increased by 23.5% between February 2020 and May 2023. Although not as bad as the first couple of years under old Joe's policies (resulting in inflation rates of 7 and 6.5% his first two years), the rate is still nearly three times higher than it was under Trump -- so that 23.5% increase is continuing to climb.

Because 3.2% is still high, Star. And the reason it has come down is because of higher interest rates (~7%) being charged on things like mortgages and loans, putting buying large ticket items out of reach.

And we are still suffering from the higher inflation of just a few months ago. Once the prices go up, they usually don't come back down, unless market forces force them down. And because of supply chain problems scarcity is still a factor in keeping the prices high.

Inflation used to be 2% and under.

I believe he's serious - just very badly misinformed.

(wait - that's two negatives --- very goodly misinformed?)

He always seems to be lacking when it comes to discussing economics. Must be why he is a socialist.
