The third party mainly gets hurt if they go in blind. If the third party is aware of the situation, then they are "hurt" the same way one of the spouses is if they grow tired of the situation.

I guess if you believe in having sex with anyone before marrying them, it is not a big step to continue doing that after being married.
The question is why do so many non-straight people find it acceptable as opposed to straight people? It is a 75/33 split. That is a glaring gap.

Because gay marriage is relatively new? Before that their entire lifestyle was basically dating around?

The gay community was already highly promiscuous prior to any court cases or legislation regarding gay civil unions. Gay men have been historically and currently at high risk for certain diseases precisely due to their proclivities.

Once you go down the libertine path, "open marriage" is hardly controversial.

Or, more accurately, a little under a third of the population doesn't share your particular Christian sect's definition of adultery (indeed, even some other Christian sects don't share it either and haven't throughout much of Christian history).

The non-straight people are just more honest than the straight people? The straight people are probably busy doing it, but say "oh, no, I totally would never" when asked.

If we're going to get into the realm of "probably", the most "probably" reason for "cheating" is discontent in the current relationship and seeking a new relationship while still socially in one. There's no breakdown of LGB by sex. LGB individuals would tend to be more liberal already. And the idea of "couples who are unhappy" is a rather vague sentiment. If people just want the rush of a new relationship and tire quickly, they're more likely to seek new relationships. People who wish to subvert "bourgeoisie culture" would including wanting to subvert traditional marriage.

There are, as you say "probably", a variety of factors that could influence the patterns.

You don't justify bad behavior with more bad behavior.

Hardly just my "particular Christian sect's definition of adultery."

If the parties involved have knowledge of it and are consenting, yes, open marriage is perf3ctly acceptable.

How does your wife or girlfriend feel about that?
I don't practice open marriage, nor am I interested in it personally. So my wife feels about that the same way she feels about me saying that smoking weed is "acceptable" whilst i do not partake in the practice.

                                You feeling alright there?
