If you're referring to any of my posts: "netherlands" with a small 'n', and what your Commonwealth considers right and left wing doesn't translate to the US.

To be fair, I think his meaning was "nether" lands in the sense of being an insult about NZ being in outlying distant nether-regions of the globe and therefore not mattering.

We can, of course, speculate about whether as a US right winger he's likely to know enough geography vs not, to be aware that the Netherlands is itself a country. But I guess you could be right that his level of ignorance might be such that he thought NZ was part of the Netherlands, as opposed to on the opposite side of the world from it and not politically connected to it.

We can't be too harsh on US right wingers as their level of ignorance and indoctrination is not their own fault... there's a fair chance this was the map on the wall of their kindergarten, which may have been the highest level their education reached.

So why would your government go after Brand before there were any actual charges or convictions?

This is becoming a thoroughly Leftist strategy to starve and silence their opponents. I bet they are all salivating for the Orwellian future where they can just have them shot.
Back in 2013 he made a splash in Britain calling on people not to vote and support a rebellion. When asked to describe the rebellion he described it thusly:

A socialist egalitarian system based on the massive redistribution of wealth, [with] heavy taxation of corporations ... I think the very concept of profit should be hugely reduced ... I say profit is a filthy word, because wherever there is a profit there is also a deficit

For years he was a supporter of various liberal causes, but during the lockdown he became a skeptic regarding the policies which got him labelled a right wing science denier.

I'm always still in trouble again

So, he's something of an enigma, like RFK Jr. Difficult to categorize by traditional standards.

Still, it is scary to see government officials contacting private corporations and seeking to cripple a person's livelihood. I mean, I wouldn't put it past Castro Jr, though. The US version of that is the White House contacting news organizations and setting their criteria for them.

                What a world.
