I don't support any aspect of these people's lives other than their right to a fair trail.
However, a single accusation from an unnamed source and they lose a tour, distribution of their record, and their livelihood.
No court, no evidence, no judge, no jury - just a single piece in Jezebel.
There is a very real possibility that it has cost these men millions.
We've seen the lives of students destroyed at universities because some moron leveled a claim and the institution over-reacted,
booted the students, and so forth. It isn't the job of the private sector to adjudicate these cases - it is for the court system.
I support the right of a victim to be heard but that hearing needs to be down at the police station and in a court of law.
We need laws where this sort of behavior on the part of a victim results in jail time/fines/etc.
You go to the police first with a crime, not a rag like Jezebel.
If you go to the media first and the accusation cannot be proven it should be handled as libel.
