    Media has hissy-fit because Trump got two scoops of ice cream

    CNN devoted not one, but two segments on how President Trump got two scoops of ice cream while his dinner guests only got one as the network tried to pass off a “scoop” about the president’s eating habits as news.

    In a segment titled, “Two scoops for Trump,” CNN’s Jeanne Moos talks about Trump’s “executive privilege” for receiving two scoops of ice cream while the three TIME magazine correspondents he had dinner with only got one.

    The TIME magazine correspondents made sure to take note of the disparity between the food given to the president and the food they were served in a profile called “Donald Trump After Hours,” the profile the segment was based on.

    “At the dessert course, he gets two scoops of vanilla ice cream with his chocolate cream pie, instead of the single scoop for everyone else,” TIME’s Michael Scherer and Zeke Miller wrote.

    “With the salad course, Trump is served what appears to be Thousand Island dressing instead of the creamy vinaigrette for his guests,” they added.

    But this was not the only segment CNN devoted to the subject.

    CNN also gave airtime to an interview between CNN’s Brooke Baldwin and CNN political reporter and editor-at-large Chris Cillizza with the headline, “President Gets Two Scoops of Ice Cream, Everyone Else One.”

    “The President gets two scoops, you know, everyone around the table gets one, and no word if there were sprinkles,” Baldwin commented.

    “Right, well, the broader point here is, the White House staff has adapted to Donald Trump’s case,” CNN political reporter and editor-at-large Chris Cillizza responded. “So, when everyone else gets water, he gets a diet coke. When everybody gets one scoop of ice cream, he gets two.”

      The times article really only mentioned it in passing, as in "the staff knows his preferences"

      The waiters know well Trump’s personal preferences. As he settles down, they bring him a Diet Coke, while the rest of us are served water, with the Vice President sitting at one end of the table. With the salad course, Trump is served what appears to be Thousand Island dressing instead of the creamy vinaigrette for his guests. When the chicken arrives, he is the only one given an extra dish of sauce. At the dessert course, he gets two scoops of vanilla ice cream with his chocolate cream pie, instead of the single scoop for everyone else. The tastes of Pence are also tended to. Instead of the pie, he gets a fruit plate.

      And really, after watching the CNN bit, it was more of a light hearted puff piece than an attack on Trump. In this case, I think Breitbart was the one making a mountain out of a molehill.

            My parents (who hate Trump and get most of their news from CNN) used that piece as "evidence" that Trump was selfish and wanted to humiliate his guests.

              Some people would have said he was faking humility if he had offered them extra servings while declining them himself.

                The fact that his guests were from the liberal rag TIME Magazine makes me suspect that he was deliberately trolling them.

                        Maybe we're thinking about this all wrong. This is the tax payers ice cream right? So essentially, Trump has increased chief executive per-capita consumption of tax payer supported frozen deserts by 100%.

                          What? I am paying for Trump to eat ice cream with my tax dollars which could be used to feed homeless people instead? Or making bombs to kill North Koreans?
