FWIU, there have been times when some states had primaries on different dates for Republicans and Democrats, but obviously this is something the state would wish to avoid.

There must be some sort of state mechanism that overrides outside forces. Because if I was running the RNC, there is absolutely no way I would agree to a DNC rescheduling just so Biden could do better in the primaries. That is positively counterproductive.

Again, IIRC, the national party punishes states that don't toe the line with threats of refusing to accept their delegates and giving them no say on who the party nominee will be.

Given that the national party selected Hillary in 2016, not caring who the members actually voted for, and stiffed Sanders in Iowa in 2020, that threat is carrying less and less consequence.

If it doesn't matter who gets the votes in the primaries what would it matter if your votes weren't counted.

I could see it backfiring spectacularly as well. Really pissing off the voters in the state to the point that your supporters sit home and you lose the state as a result.
