I suspect that [as an atheist] O'Neill does not believe in virgin births, angels, the literal resurrection of a three day old corpse, walking on water [or through locked doors] feeding thousands from a few loaves and some fish, or a bodily ascension into space.

He does not have to believe in those things to believe that Christianity is not a copy of other myths. The obvious either escapes you or are willfully ignoring it.

Ah yes, the same artist did a cross with cows blood two years earlier. Do you serious believe a person putting a crucifix in urine does not intend to be blasphemous?

There may be history in the gospels, but the story about Jesus is total mythology. It is simply a copy of nearly all of the myths that went before him. What the gospel writers did was to take the arlier myths, replaced the main charecters with Jesus and then woove those same myths into the history of the times.

Yes, I know, you're all going to be outraged at my assertion, but look it up for yourselves, most all of the things claimed of Jesus, the Virginia birth, the baptism, the miracles, the raising of the dead, the resurrection etc etc. happened to the gods in the earlier myths also. Same story, new main character.

Leave it to Jimmy to appeal to long discredited arguments like "The Jesus Myth".
