Atheism is the cult of death, the death of hope. The universe is doomed, you are doomed, the only thing that remains is to await your execution...

      However, I may be wrong.
He does not have to believe in those things to believe that Christianity is not a copy of other myths. The obvious either escapes you or are willfully ignoring it.

Why, did he change your mind about Jesus, or did he confirm your bias. Besides, I'm not claiming that there was no historical Jesus, I'm just suggesting that the gospels, written decades later, are a combination of history and myth. In the Gospels, Jesus simply became the historical version of Horus.

Jesus has no similarities to Horus.

Edit: I'm not going to continue the derail until JimL can provide any thing remotely similar to hostile depictions of Jesus, something like a government funded Muhammed in urine.

It does contain some passing similarities to other religious mythologies [virgin births, dying and resurrected gods, and various miraculous feats].

Jesus was a human being. Christ Jesus is a religious construct.

Seeing as you're named after one of the so called great myths of atheism (edit: and more specifically anti-theism), I would pass on your assessment. Also, I'm ending my involvement in the derail.

You seem to forget that people have been murdered for offensive depictions of Muhammed in cartoons and in literature.

The government may fund the arts. They don't dictate them.Besides that, people have no idea what the intent of the Piss CHRIST artist was. He was a devout catholic whose intent was not blaphemous.

Ah yes, the same artist did a cross with cows blood two years earlier. Do you serious believe a person putting a crucifix in urine does not intend to be blasphemous?

Yes, I know, you're all going to be outraged at my assertion, but look it up for yourselves, most all of the things claimed of Jesus, the Virginia birth, the baptism, the miracles, the raising of the dead, the resurrection etc etc. happened to the gods in the earlier myths also. Same story, new main character.

It's art, it can mean different things to different people. Maybe the problem lies in the mind of the observer. Don't be a snowflake.
