    A glimmer of sanity...

World Athletics tightens rules on transgender women athletes

World Athletics (WA) announced new rules on Thursday impacting transgender women athletes, banning some from competing in female track and field events.

The announced regulations, which come into force on March 31, prohibit athletes who have gone through what WA called “male puberty” from participating in female world rankings competitions. WA said the exclusion would apply to “male-to-female transgender athletes who have been through male puberty.”

So, effectively ALL biological males since it would be impossible for them to experience "female puberty"?

Now I'm wondering, is it even possible to stop someone from going through puberty? And if it is possible, can it be done without causing serious harm to the individual?

This will probably just end up legitimizing doing transgender surgery and hormone therapy on children before they reach puberty.

Yeah, let's slice and dice a multitude of small boys in the off chance that one might grow up to be a star athlete.

Yes, it's called puberty blockers. Pretty dangerous, but they do it.

Seer... do you actually watch or follow any women's sports?

I'm guessing you might like women's beach volleyball because of the amount of opportunities for oogling of women's bodies it would give? But do you actually seriously follow any women's sports? I have males in my family who take sport really seriously (I don't personally care about it) and they only follow mens sports... so it's, surprising, to see you so apparently passionate about women's sports.

So now people have to watch women's sports in order to care that males don't compete in women's sports?

Obviously no one watches women's sports as the ratings are horrible and yet women want equitable pay as if they had similar ratings to men's sports.

Generally you have to deeply care about something to post as passionately about it as seer does this issue. I'm just wondering if it's actually women's sport he cares about, or if it's just his deep loathing of all things LGBT expressing itself yet again.

So desiring to keep males out of women's sports is merely Seer' deep loathing of all things "LGBT"?

Perhaps we could speculate on your motivation to support males supplanting females in their own space. It's humorous how males make better women than females. It's also humorous how, for instance, the trans swimmer couldn't make it in men's sports but became immediately successful in women's sports.

Presumably you of all people would understand the physiological effects of sexual dimorphism in humans and that no amount of oestrogen would reverse that.

Of course, we have UCONN basketball, one of the best girls team around (big game against the Buckeyes today). I have never watched beach volleyball. And yes I mostly follow men's football. But I have two sweet granddaughters who play soccer. Besides, men playing in women's sports is just unfair - don't you agree?

It's both sad and funny how Star can't conceive of reasons to be invested in the topic besides oogling women or hatred.

Or you could have kids, or friends or relatives with kids, who play on school teams -- possibly even well enough to earn a scholarship. Only to see it go to a biological male. But even if they weren't that good, American's still are fans of fair play and watching one team bring in a ringer violates that.
