  • Possible Trump Indictment

    Breaking News! This just in...:

Extremely Woke and Liberal Anti-Trump Prosecutor may indict Trump.

    What a surprise, huh?

Surely this guy is thinking twice. They better stop and think of the cost of such a stunt. It will backfire on them and Trump as usual will walk away looking like .

It will be a silly criminal charge for sure, whatever it ends up being (bribery?). The publicity and nuisance of it will only help Trump's campaign.

Every legal analysis I've read, including by those who are no fans of Trump, say that the New York prosecutor's case is a joke.

Curiously, this stunt seems to have caused the Republican party to begin aligning itself behind Trump.

Given that every knows Trump slept with Stormy Daniels and paid her off (is literally anyone seriously disputing that?), and Michael Cohen has done prison time for facilitating the payment on behalf of Trump. it would seem to be a pretty great injustice if Trump is allowed to get away with it.

          Stormy Daniels.

Trump is the only man in the world that got paid by the hooker -- as in having to pay him $300,000 in legal fees

Cohen was never charged with the Stormy Daniels payoff. He was arrested for Tax Evasion, Lying, and Illegal campaign contributions. The statute of limitations has run out on any such charges anyway, even if it were illegal, which as far as I can tell it was not. Just scandalous.

Have to point out, that the payoff WAS the "illegal campaign contribution."

Didn't he pay it out of pocket?

He paid that out of his own pocket (well from a company he controlled) and there was never any proof that Trump reimbursed it out of campaign funds and Trump was never indicted.

                      From your link:
Cohen also pleaded guilty to a count of making an excessive campaign contribution. He said he used a company under his control to pay $130,000 to a woman at the direction of the same candidate.

This isn't to say that Trump is guilty, but that your statement that:
Cohen was never charged with the Stormy Daniels payoff. He was arrested for Tax Evasion, Lying, and Illegal campaign contributions.

is not accurate. He was charged for the crime of "Illegal campaign contributions" where the contribution WAS the $130k payoff.

                      Types of contributions

                      In-kind contributions

                      Definition

Goods or services offered free or at less than the usual charge result in an in-kind contribution. Similarly, when a person pays for goods or services on the committee’s behalf, the payment is an in-kind contribution. An expenditure made by any person in cooperation, consultation or concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, a candidate’s campaign is also considered an in-kind contribution to the candidate.

Cohen's payment would have been an in-kind contribution, either by the purple part (the service being the silence), or, if directed by Trump, by the red part.

And all of this is happening just as information about the Biden Crime Family is starting to make its way into the public consciousness.

                        What a coincidence!

Not so sure about the latter.

Trump’s call for protests gets muted reaction by supporters

Former President Donald Trump’s calls for protests ahead of his anticipated indictment in New York have generated mostly muted reactions from supporters, with even some of his most ardent loyalists dismissing the idea as a waste of time or a law enforcement trap.

The ambivalence raises questions about whether Trump, though a leading Republican contender in the 2024 presidential race who retains a devoted following, still has the power to mobilize far-right supporters the way he did more than two years ago before the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. It also suggests that the hundreds of arrests that followed the Capitol riot, not to mention the convictions and long prison sentences, may have dampened the desire for repeat mass unrest.

Consider the source. I wouldn't expect the Associated Press to put anything but a negative spin on this.

I don't want Trump running again, but I also don't want to see democrats misuse the justice system to eliminate a political threat in an election either. And that is what this is. I also don't think it will work. It will fail and it will just energize Trump's base and make it that more likely he will win the primary. They are helping Trump, not hurting him.
