But the more they martyr Trump with all of these nutty accusations, the more likely he will win the primary. Their antics are really ticking off the GOP and solidifying Trump's base. Their best tactic would be to ignore Trump and work in the background to prop up Desantis. Then Trump would run as an Independent and draw votes away from Desantis allowing Biden to win.
Trump losing and running as an Independent would be best-case scenario for Democrats, but there isn't any guarantee he would run as an Independent if that happens. While that's very possible, the same egotism that could cause Trump to run as an Independent could also cause him to not run on the grounds that he'd be guaranteed to lose and therefore be perceived as a giant loser for losing both primary and election. Third party candidates are normally people who don't care if they lose--Trump very much cares about that.

Charisma is one of the issues he may have. But you can't be as bad as you depict and not just get elected Governor of a state with more than four times the population of your entire country and then get reelected by a just shy of a 60-40 rout.

And it wasn't that is opposition was an unknown or flawed like so many that the Republicans put up. DeSantis just won by that much.

Biden has run the country into the ground.
Anyone would be able to beat Joe in a fair election. Don't be surprised if he somehow pulls off another "miracle win" in the middle of the night.

He might be more likely to pointed refuse to endorse another Republican base which could be enough to get a significant number of conservatives voters not voting.

That would be an even bigger win for the left in that this would also be less votes in down ballot elections and potential big pickups for the Democrats in Congress, Gubernatorial and State Legislatures.

Jeb! was a 2-term Florida governor and his run for the presidency was one of the biggest flops we've seen.

Jeb won on name recognition and faced a nobody (a Miami lawyer) who had donors with deep pockets to overcome Janet Reno (who had been leading in polls for the Democrat nomination by over 25 points) in reelection.

You forget that Trump is a narcissist. He will want to be the first Independent to win a presidential election and he will believe he can win.

FOX News legal analyst Greg Jarret says that Bragg deliberately concealed over 600 pages of exculpatory evidence from the grand jury when seeking an indictment against President Trump.

Jeb really had nothing to offer the rest of the country. He was "meh" - DeSantis has already made a name for himself with conservatives across the country with his bus stunt, and his refusal of wokism and supporting parents of school children. He is in the public eye. Republicans sort of see him as a sane version of Trump. Trump without the egomania.

It'll be that that will eventually lead to a downfall if one happens. Sources from the FBI basically said that they didn't find any nefarious purpose behind trump and the classified documents at Mar-a-lago, instead, it was all about trump's ego saying "They are mine and I don't wanna give them up!"

FBI officials and prosecutors investigating the classified documents recovered from Mar-a-Lago now think ego, not money, was the motivation behind former President Donald Trump’s decision to take them, The Washington Post is reporting.

Federal authorities have been reviewing the recovered documents to see if there is a pattern but so far haven’t been able to connect any nefarious effort by the former president to sell or leverage the government secrets.

Instead, witnesses have suggested to the FBI that Trump just didn’t want to “give up what he believed was his property,” the newspaper said.
