      No.

Is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea democratic, the people's or a republic?

Read up on liberalism in the 30's sometime. Liberals found a lot to like in Nazism and fascism, even if the racial rhetoric sometimes made them uncomfortable. Il Duce was a communist in his younger days, and while he broke with them, it wasn't due to a massive ideological shift.

I think this kind of relativism is a product of the leftist frame we live in. Liberals claim solidarity with the racist, sexist homophobes who actually beat Hitler because they were "the liberals of their time" or something while the people with views even close to those of that generation are themselves labeled nazis. While I'm familiar with the way ideologies have evolved over the past century, it's completely meaningless to call the Nazis "liberal" when they are not liberal in any sense of the word.

And the racial rhetoric is a key component of both fascism/national socialism and progressivism. Love and loyalty to your people is mandatory for the former and anathema to the latter (if you're white). I can't act like two ideologies with diametrically opposed values are now interchangeable just because they are both authoritarian.

Most, at least here in the U.S., seemed nervous about Hitler and the Nazis, but until Mussolini aligned himself with Hitler he and fascism were a cause célèbre for many on the left.

When people tire of politics, they often crave for a strongman to cut the Gordian knot of their present circumstances--that this has ended catastrophically for so often has not prevented people from falling back in this error repeatedly and hoping for a secular savior.

The famous quote by George Santayana springs to mind here
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Unfortunately, for those of us who do study history and remember the past, we're condemned to watching it repeat because we're a small minority.

at least later at night when all they show is repeats on the history channel.

                  • Liberalism is a repudiation of nature that appeals to simpletons.
Every once and awhile we have to have a great purge or it would wipe out humanity entirely.
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

The good part about your bipolar disorder is that once in a while we get Mad Gerbil back.

Liberalism embodies the altruistic values of the tribal unit.

By “great purge” you presumably mean purging “them others”, i.e. those who not a part of your tribal unit...like Moses exterminating the Midianites, or Hitler exterminating non-Aryans.

The insensate fetus is a potential person, if not a person in actuality, so it’s a big decision for a woman to decide whether or not to terminate her pregnancy.

It is a human being. The woman's very own offspring.
Yes. Hence it’s a big decision for the woman to make. It's not for you to make it for her.

Again, why do they feel guilty if it is not a person?
                            See above.
