When somebody does this, "it's coming... any minute... blockbuster......" I usually just yawn and wait for something actionable.

Kinda like - who was it, Schumer? - constantly teasing that he's got something really really big on Trump?

No, not Schumer... but bugeye guy.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

It's not appropriate to throw to the sharks random low level employees at twitter who were just doing their run of the mill moderation jobs.

People who have looked up these links on internet archive are reporting it's pornographic material posted without the consent of the people in it. So stuff that would be removed from TWeb ASAP, and which violates Twitter's policies.

Some of it is apparently Hunter Biden pornographic material, but still, it's a violation of Twitter's (and TWeb's) rules, and moderator removal would be the correct action and uncontroversial.

That general warning from law enforcement was the warning about Russian misinformation regarding Hunter.

"More to review from the Biden team," an email from a redacted Twitter employee said. The message included five tweet URLs. "Thanks all," the message was casually signed.

        Try again. Look directly above.

And by all indications "handled these" was the same as "took care of them" -- that is, Biden said jump and Twitter responded "how high?"

To the extent there was any wrongdoing or questionable behavior revealed in this dump, it's this action by Trump's government.
Both sides put in requests. We know stuff got pulled that hurt Biden. Can you find or think of anything that got pulled that was hurting Trump? I can't.

Further, the part you snipped was the key (I bolded it for you).

"Both parties had access to these tools. For instance, in 2020, requests from both the Trump White House and the Biden campaign were received and honored. However… This system wasn't balanced," Taibbi wrote. "It was based on contacts. Because Twitter was and is overwhelmingly staffed by people of one political orientation, there were more channels, more ways to complain, open to the left (well, Democrats) than the right."

"The resulting slant in content moderation decisions is visible in the documents you’re about to read. However, it’s also the assessment of multiple current and former high-level executives," the journalist teased.

Last I heard old Joe is a Democrat. And believe it or not, the top one. The head of the party. And you even acknowledge that he had stuff pulled.

And this was just the first release. Some of those who've seen the emails say he is holding stuff back and appears to release it in drips and drops. IOW, stay tuned. Of course this could turn out to be just like the long string of "bombshells " regarding Trump that all turned into fizzled duds.

But so far, a lot of stuff routinely branded as nothing but rightwing conspiracy theories are being validated as true. More to come?

              ???
Biden and the DNC were exonerated by the evidence. They were shown not to have been calling the shots. The Republican conspiracy that they were controlling Big Tech has been shown to be a hoax.

What do Republicans do in response? They ignore the evidence and double-down on their conspiracies.

Matt Taibbi showed that the evidence didn't show any wrongdoing there.

Initial news reports weren't very clear about the origin of the material and some low level staffers in Twitter thought it was hacked material being disseminated so triggered some automatic blocking of the sharing of the hacked material. There was then some lengthy discussion amongst the staffers about whether it was hacked material. Twitter eventually asked some Republican congressmen to get their congressional staff to work out whether it was hacked material or not.

The evidence showed no interference by the Biden team on this topic. The evidence showed the only Democrat to talk to them about it asked them to not censor the material and cited free speech. The evidence showed the Twitter CEO was unaware of the discussion about moderation on this topic taking place among low level staffers. The evidence hence showed that there was no conspiracy between Biden and Twitter to cover this up. The evidence does not suggest vague FBI warnings to beware of Russian election interference had any relevance to any decisions made.

Basically the evidence shows every part of the conservative conspiracy theories about this was baloney. The Dems weren't in bed with big tech to control the election outcome. The Dems weren't suppressing Hunter Biden's laptop. The Twitter CEO wasn't suppressing hunter Biden's laptop. Team Biden wasn't suppressing Hunter Biden's laptop. There wasn't any discussion between the Biden Team and the Twitter CEO on the topic.

Only reason it's lackluster to me is because this is just how imagined it went down -- WH staff corresponding with twitter techs on how to deal with the Biden is corrupt story right before election. Though I'm a bit surprised how natural the convos were between them, I realize it's because their corruption is perfectly natural and they think nothing is out of the natural having these convos. Though I do give some kudos to that nutjob Ro Khanna for having somewhat of a conscience.

So you think Trump's WH staff are at fault for corresponding with twitter techs right before an election? Would you describe that as Trump trying to rig an election?

Though the Trump admin apparently did have a conduit to social media (I mean it was Trump after all that signed the stupid cyber act in the first place), it's clear that the majority of twitter staff was grossly left leaning and bias in that regard, and I was specifically referring to the laptop incident, hence the reason I brought up Ro Khanna that you edited out of my post.

If you believe them on any topic, I've got 50 bridges to sell you.

It seems to be a series of half-truths narrated together in a way different to what the investigating reporter actually said. e.g. they start with
"The Rolling Stone contributing editor laid out a series of redacted files alleged to originate from Twitter employees' communications, appearing to show collusion between Twitter's top brass and the Biden campaign, as well as the Democratic National Committee."

This claim of "Collusion" seems entirely false given the revealed evidence. The investigator found that both Trump's people and Biden's people were able to report posts for moderator review. This is no different to TWeb's report feature. It doesn't indicate anything nefarious. It doesn't imply anything about what action is taken in response, and it doesn't indication "collusion". Me hitting "report to mods" on your post isn't me "colluding" with the mods. People who have looked up the links of what posts were being flagged and reported have said it was mostly pornographic content.

Newsmax, having misled the readers with the false claim that "collusion between Twitter's top brass and the Biden campaign, as well as the Democratic National Committee" was a thing, they then go on to misleadingly claim that:
the [laptop] story was removed on the basis of violating Twitter's "hacked materials policy" and was made "at the highest levels of the company but without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey."

The evidence shows that a low-level moderator had removed the story on the basis that it violated the hacked materials policy. No evidence was provided as to how that moderator had had their attention brought to the post they were moderating on that top. No evidence was provided that it was flagged for moderation by the Biden team or any Dem political operative. So this was not at all a decision made 'at the highest levels of the company', nor does the evidence show any "collusion" with Biden team or DNC.

After the removal by a low level moderator of the Hunter Biden story as being hacked materials, there was pushback on that decision from others in the company and a resultant argument that bubbled all the way up to one of the senior managers... the final outcome of that argument was that there suspicion but not proof that it was hacked materials so they left the initial moderator's ban in place awaiting further evidence that it wasn't hacked materials. (Eventually they would get that evidence and remove the ban) The investigator reports there was a great deal of confusion and indecision within Twitter on this topic. The only politician he can find reaching out to Twitter on this topic was a Dem (Ro Khanna) who asked them to stop censoring it and who said the censorship was generating more news than the story itself otherwise would have.

As the Newsmax story finally correctly notes:
[The investigator found] "no evidence" of any direct government involvement in Twitter's decision to remove the laptop story from its platform.

"They just freelanced it," a one-time employee told [him]

As you can see, Newsmax in one piece goes from initially claiming "collusion" at the start of the piece, to ending with the admission that there was no collusion.

No, Taibbi indicates that both Trump's people and Biden's people were both able to report individual posts for moderator review. That is not the same as telling them to suspend accounts and nowhere does Taibbi imply that it was.

I should note that when I say "Eventually they would get hat evidence and remove the ban" that that happened within 48 hours. We are talking here about a decision by a low-level mod that was reversed within 2 days by the CEO. At the time there was still 3 weeks to go until the election.

You did request a link Ronson, here's a fairly neutral bare bones report on it. Or you could just read the entirety of Matt Taibbi's own report about in his thread on twitter: Scroll up from here to start and then read down and you'll see it all.

When you're right, you're right. Newsmax suckered me on that one. I zeroed in on the soundbites, as they had hoped. Thanks for the clarification.

One thing I will say in defense, Newsmax publishes a lot of AP and Reuters, more than their original materials. So I didn't always check the source.
