Elon Musk says he will release details on Friday afternoon about Twitter’s decision to censor The Post’s scoop about Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop.

“What really happened with the Hunter Biden story suppression by Twitter will be published on Twitter at 5pm ET!” the new CEO tweeted.

“This will be awesome,” he added in a separate tweet alongside a popcorn emoji.

The world’s richest man, who purchased Twitter last month, has previously insisted full disclosure was needed to determine why the company decided to block the bombshell report about President Biden’s son in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election.

The 51-year-old, who has vowed to turn Twitter into a bastion of free speech, had been teasing the release of the internal files for several days, arguing the “public deserves to know what really happened.”

“This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead,” he tweeted Monday after vowing the files would “soon to be published on Twitter itself.”

We already knew this as per the Intercept report. WH and intelligence apparently had it's influential tentacles deep into the major social media networks, and it was predicated on an cyber act signed by Trump. What I'd be interested in is actual correspondent messages between the parties.

Better said that it was strongly suspected, but now it's being confirmed. And now it looks that they were following all of old Joe's requests for censorship even before the election.

And that Twitter was censoring private communications between individuals who shared the story -- using a tool that's meant to be used to block child pornography from being sent.

Now, if the Hershel Walker campaign had any spunk, they'd spin up some stories right quick on why the Senate needs to NOT go "majority Democrat".

1. Dems never asked for the laptop story to be suppressed by twitter. Nobody from the Biden team ever talked to twitter about it. A progressive democratic congressman asked twitter to stop suppressing the story and cited free speech reasons.

2. Low level twitter employees suppressed the story for run of the mill reasons - they believed it was violating twitter's standard rule against posting hacked materials.

3. There was then a big internal debate among low level employees at Twitter about whether the laptop story was about hacked materials or not. The lack of certainty from the early reporting made facts hard to come by to inform the decision, and the staff decided to err on the side of caution. All this occured without the knowledge of the CEO.

4. Eventually Twitter consulted 9 Republican congressmen and 3 Democratic ones (note that ratio!) in order to get their staff to research the story and get some information for twitter about whether it involved hacked materials.

So hopefully this kills the conservative conspiracy theory that Bidens people told twitter to suppress the story.

Sounds like Elon Musk is going to release more info on other conservative conspiracy theories in the next few days. So we can expect a few more shot down. I doubt it will slow MM down from proclaiming they are all true though.

The "Twitter Files" showed on at least one occasion, the "Biden team" instructed Twitter employees to remove politically inconvenient content in October 2020, just weeks before Joe Biden was elected President of the United States.

"More to review from the Biden team," an email from a redacted Twitter employee said. The message included five tweet URLs. "Thanks all," the message was casually signed.

"Handled these," another redacted Twitter employee responded.

Now, while Taibbi said in his series of tweets that "there is no evidence - that I’ve seen - of any government involvement in the laptop story," old Joe wasn't president yet so the marching orders they got weren't from the government -- but unquestionably from the Dems and undeniably somebody from the Biden team most certainly did tell Twitter to "jump" with Twitter responding "how high?"

Twitter was told to expect a Russian disinformation dump that regarded Hunter.

This speculation by you is not supported by any of the released content as far as I can see.

And yes, there were the very few lone voices saying this was wrong.

The released content implies that the only contact Twitter had from any Democratic politicians regarding the Hunter Biden laptop was a request to not suppress the story.

The "Twitter Files" showed on at least one occasion, the "Biden team" instructed Twitter employees to remove politically inconvenient content in October 2020, just weeks before Joe Biden was elected President of the United States.

The appears to be false. The emails show Twitter had a way for people to request moderator review of posts. So does TWeb. The Twitter emails just say these requests were "handled", they don't reveal the outcome of the moderator review of the posts and they don't say what the posts related to (no evidence to suggest it was ever the Hunter Biden laptop).

This bit seems to be the real story from the revealed emails. The Trump White House was making requests of Twitter to review content. The Biden team was private citizens at that point, so no real harm in them hitting the 'report to moderators' button on posts, but having government officials in the Trump White House doing it, is actually the government being involved in trying to censor speech. To the extent there was any wrongdoing or questionable behavior revealed in this dump, it's this action by Trump's government.


It's amusing that after 44 billion dollars spent, Elon Musk couldn't find a single piece of evidence at Twitter that any Dems tried to cover up the Hunter Biden Laptop story. That's some expensive debunking of that Republican conspiracy theory.
