  • Somebody please give me a rundown on the election?

I don’t feel like wading through the other threads that are discussing it.

What happened in NY and PA and MI? And AZ?

The news is all the place.

    Hochul won in NY.

Looks like Fetterman won in PA.

Except for in Florida the Red Wave turned into a trickle.

I'm always still in trouble again

        Oh, crap.

I see DeSantis won Florida. Had no doubt about that.

R's will take the House. D's will hold the Senate.

            Hochul won in NY.
            Fetterman won in PA.
            Whitmer won in MI.

For those of us following for the hilarious details ... guess who's losing in CO-3?

The Libertarian got 2.1% of the vote in Georgia so that will be going into a run-off

In Nevada only about three-quarters of the vote has been counted but the Republican has a 2.7 point lead.

The AZ governor's race has less than 70% of the vote counted with the Democrat maintaining a slight lead.

In both Michigan and Minnesota, the states with two of the worst governors, the Democrat incumbents won.

You got Trudeau and I have Hochul. It's going to be a miserable few years for both of us.

It’s already been a miserable 7 years with Trudeau, with no relief in sight until 2025.

We must commiserate together, my brother.

Hopefully that's it for the nonstop flood of political mail I have to sort through every day at the post office (which nobody actually reads).

The TV ads are even worse. They largely focus on sexual crimes with little relevancy. In one Congressional race in my metro area, the Democrat was a defense attorney, so the Republican ran ads with "child pornography" in big letters because he has defended people accused of that.

This strikes me as somewhat of an attack on the concept of a fair trial. We've come a long ways from the days when John Adams defended the soldiers in the Boston Massacre.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Basically, the Red Wave that was hoped for turned into more of the Red Raindrop.

The biggest lover last night was Trump as most of this candidates he got through the primaries lost everywhere other than where there was no opposition (where they could have won whether he endorsed them or not)

Schumer and Hochul won NY, Oz lost to the recovering stroke patient in PA, and Josh Shapiro won governor in the same state against another Trumper. Gretchen the old person killer Whitmer won Michigan against a Trumper. Mark Kelly trounced a Trumper in Arizona and it looks like the governorship might go to dems as well. Here in Colorado several Repubs lost, and it's looking like Lauren Boebert, a big Trumper, might lose.

Biggest wins Republicans got were basically Florida, with DeSantis and Rubio both winning. Though I hear there's some 25 year old Democrat in Florida who won a house seat I believe, "First Gen Z-er in Congress" they're touting him as.

Ohio had a pretty strong showing for Republican's, too. But, yeah, the "red wave" turned out to be about as significant as the "blue wave" that was predicted in 2018.

The missed factor in this election is the youth vote. I'm hearing estimates of triple their numbers from the last midterm, and there's an easy guess what's motivating that demographic. Young folks don't vote, much. People our age always vote, if for no other reason than to get away from the kids for an hour. I'm not voting this cycle because I'm between two countries, a taxpayer with properties in two states, but still registered in Florida where I'm working but not living anymore.

And seriously, who would I vote for in GA? In a race between a preacher or the ex-football player and deadbeat dad, I vote for coffee. It never disappoints me.
