That's totally valid, too. Likewise with folks who repurpose "holocaust" or "fascist." The latter is especially poignant in the face of recent elections in Italy. This is the hyperbole trap. When folks adopt a real term inappropriately, they run the risk of having no language left for appropriate alarm at the real thing when it arises.

Some, a few, policemen are thugs. Support for the police includes rooting out thugs. You must always try to work towards improvement because they are an important public service. Also understand the risks and temptations of policemen to break the law, and put barriers up to protect them, and us.
And yet when we pointed out apparent corruption in the FBI, you claim that is undermining trust in law enforcement. Maybe you think corruption in law enforcement is bad but nobody should point it out lest they undermine trust in law enforcement?
