When folks adopt a real term inappropriately, they run the risk of having no language left for appropriate alarm at the real thing when it arises.

A well funded, properly trained, and well regulated police force is desirable.

There can always be bad apples, and we need ways to root them out.

Some, a few, policemen are thugs. Support for the police includes rooting out thugs. You must always try to work towards improvement because they are an important public service. Also understand the risks and temptations of policemen to break the law, and put barriers up to protect them, and us.
