Stopping just across the tracks wasn't the smartest thing for the woman to do either; it forced the cops to either stop further away than they're accustomed to doing or stop on the tracks. Yeah, it was dumb to stop on the tracks, but traffic stops can be high-stress for the cops too, especially considering there was a weapon involved.

or service that gathers up these cases and presents them as cops purposely killing people because they're hateful or racist or whatever.

I actually was a subject of a lawsuit once because a fellow police officer put a prisoner in a jail cell without removing the prisoner's belt. The department (along with individual officers) was charged with negligent manslaughter. I was released during the deposition by the plaintiffs because I demonstrated that I had a long heart-to-heart discussion with the deceased prior to handing him over to the jailer, and we had become "best buds".
Interesting, you're the only one here that has said anything about racism.

You don't "live in the area" of every one of these things you bring up, Gondy.

Interesting, you're the only one here that has said anything about racism.
Because that is often the charge or accusation, and all too often, it's true.

Ah, here we go. I want the actual FACTS instead of emotional rancor - so that makes me "poked" and "defensive".

Sometimes, people do extremely stupid stuff, and sometimes, they happen to be wearing a badge and a gun when they do extremely stupid stuff.

The car looks like crumpled up tin foil. I am amazed anyone survived that.
Another report. Three officers involved in placing her in the back of the patrol car

And they can be bad ones - these actually appear to be - but doesn't automatically require malice.

So she stopped just beyond the tracks, and the cop stopped behind her, putting his car ON the tracks ---- them fact thingies are stubborn things. He didn't just decide "hey, I think I'll park my patrol car on the tracks!"

That indeed explains that part, but if three officers were there one of them could have moved the car after she was secured in the rear of it. They didn't need all three to search her car.

But the thot plickens -- WHY they were stopped on the tracks, is because they stopped behind her, and she had stopped "just beyond" the tracks". Incredibly stupid, but when the adrenalin is flowing and you are in "tunnel vision" mode, an incompetent person doesn't think about things like that.

So, yeah, SOMEBODY should have said, "hey, put her in MY car" or "you know you're parked on the tracks" or something like that. But it doesn't sound like he purposely parked on the tracks to kill or seriously wound his prisoner.

EGGzackly! I just said something like that. But I'm still not seeing 'intent' or "malice'. Just profound stupidity and incompetence.

You have the facts, and instantly got defensive when it was laid out just how absurd this incident (and the other) was.

In addition it was another officer who radioed to them that the car had been hit. So I'm finding the story that she parked that close to the tracks being the reason for parking on the tracks hard to believe. If they were searching her car they'd be right there if he really parked right behind her.

                                It just doesn't add up.
