10 second clip of volunteers unloading dinner for the 48 migrants. Maybe pretend-to-be Christians should take note?

I did see one person comment "the Martha’s Vineyard incident is a poignant reminder that one central conceit of Republican politics is that everyone is secretly as cruel as they are, and surely nobody would genuinely want to help the people Republicans pack into planes and ship off to faraway liberal locales" which seemed apt.

Also it seems unclear why DeSantis of Florida is taking credit for apparently shipping these migrants from Texas. Seems scandalous he's using his own state's covid relief funds to ship migrants among other states to further his own personal political aspirations.

You guys are hilarious. MV got 48 immigrants and you're patting yourselves on the back like you actually did something virtuous. Harris County and Miami-Dade (the #2 and #3 counties with the most immigrants in the country) have both had well over a million immigrants in a four year time-span. 48 immigrants. I can only pray that they keep sending immigrants there and don't stop. Once they reach just the hundreds, those snooty upper class libs will show their true colors, guaranteed.

Yes, 50 people, on one day. Good on them! Now, 50 more tomorrow, 50 more the next day, then the next day, and the one after that...

In April border patrol caught 234,000 people (with 188k released into the states), only 68% of those crossing are estimated to be caught. This means in April alone, an estimated 344,000 tried to cross with ~300k successfully entering the state, or approximately 10,000 per day enter through the southern border. What's that compared to 50 on one day, they really showed those republicans how its done...

That is stupid...Besides MV is 90% white, they could use a little diversity...

You're not exactly comparing apples with apples because MV has a very small population compared to those counties, and doesn't have any infrastructure set up to handle and process migrants. If it started becoming a regular thing that immigrants were sent to MV, I'm sure they could set up some infrastructure to deal with it and process them.

But MV has over 300x fewer people than Harris County so they're never going to be able to scale to handle the level of immigration that Harris County could handle. But if you wanted, long term, for MV to scale up to handling immigrants at a level proportional to its existing population the same as what Harris county handles (i.e. 300x fewer immigrants than Harris County takes), then that could be a thing.

Look what they did with student debt. Now folks who couldn't go to college or who did and paid off their loans are being made to pay off the debts of those who could and don't want to[1]. So why not force the taxpayers in less affluent areas foot the bill for the multi-millionaires residing in Martha's Vineyard?

                    1. while the White House still refuses to release the numbers for what that move will cost, others have done the math. The latest Penn-Wharton model shows the Biden plan will add more than half a trillion dollars to the deficit and the National Taxpayer's Union Foundation estimates every taxpayer -- most of whom never took out a student loan themselves, and many who faithfully repaid their loans -- will effectively be charged $2500.

Abbott seems to be backing off this and disavowing involvement and nudging DeSantis under the bus. He doesn't seem to think it's a political winner.

It would be amusing if the two top Republican presidential nominee contenders in 2024, Trump and DeSantis, were both in prison at the time of the campaign. It would be appropriate for the Republican crime party... the usual graph I post of the high number of indictments of people within Republican administrations during nearly every Republican administration over the last 50 years compared to basically no one in any Democratic administration applies. The Republicans are the party of committing crimes, and their base seems to love it, so their nominees in prison would be apropos.

^That. The Biden admin has been flying immigrants around the country in secret for a while now.

Also the cities that the GOP governers are sending the immigrants to call themselves "Sanctuary Cities" (or in some case counties). They are advertising that they will protect illegal immigrants so what's the problem with sending them there?

It makes more sense than overwhelming border states who are unable to care for that many immigrants at once. Until Biden actually does something, the border towns are being overwhelmed. They don't have the resources to care for hundreds of thousands of immigrants.

Then they would have to prosecute the Biden administration who have been flying immigrants around the country for years now. The people are in the country illegally in the first place. They are giving permission to be sent to other cities before being loaded on buses and planes. There is no kidnapping or trafficking.

Was this before or after he was crowing about sending more illegal immigrants to Kamala Harris' residence in Washington D.C. yesterday?
