  • What to do with a Nazi...

Since about half of the voters in the US are now semi Fascist and an extreme threat to democracy. I wonder what should we do with these Neo Nazis? Shoot them in the streets, on sight? Send them to Gulags? What is appropriate for Nazis?

In all likelihood, Gulags labeled as reeducation camps.

Such language could be seen by some as permission to act violently against such enemies ofthe state um, Democracy and the country

One of the first things you started hearing them talking about right after Biden won.

Something has to be done about the right-wing extremist propaganda outlets that are riling up their gullible flock.

I don't think much can or needs to be done about the gullible sheeple themselves (at least until the point where they are mislead into storming the capital or attacking an FBI office, in which case they get the sorts of punishment they've been getting already). It's the ones manipulating these low-information people and filling their heads with lies and guiding their behavior towards fascism and extremism that are the real cause of the problems.

Tucker Carlson needs to be taken off the air so that he stops riling them up, and some of the other right wing extremist sources are just as bad. These fake news outlets can stoke acts of violence and terror, whether it's the "Tiller, Tiller, the baby killer, someone should really do something about him... oh, somebody did... oh, I'm totally not responsible for inciting that murder" of Bill O'Reilly, or the "FBI is evil someone should do something about them... oh, someone did" of the recent Trump-o-Laga saga, or the current false claims about a children's hospital non-existent transgender operations trying to stoke an attack on them.

It's clear the current situation is untenable. Right wing extremist rhetoric is stoking semi-fascistic violence with insane lies, conning gullible people into committing terroristic acts due to foolish and misguided beliefs. I don't know what the best political solution is, because obviously any political interventions are going to be subjected to first amendment challenges and SCOTUS over the last 70 years has moved away from historic limitations on this right towards a maximalist readings of the first amendment's free speech provision insistent it can almost never be abridged whatever the reasons and whatever other rights are at stake... so it's possible that nothing at call can be done that wouldn't be struck down by the current SCOTUS. But it's clear the current situation in the US is pretty untenable. The FCC used to have the Fairness Doctrine which did seem to result in less extreme rhetoric, so perhaps reinstating that would be a good idea.

In general it's going to be really hard to draw a line that polices extremist rhetoric optimally in a way that doesn't infringe mistakenly on reasonable political dialog, so writing any laws on the subject would be really hard. One possibility, perhaps, is that the FCC institute a 'no falsehoods' rule where people can submit complaints if a programs state blatant falsehoods and the networks suffer increasing fines the more falsehoods they are found to have aired. That would stop serial liars like Tucker Carlson filling their program with falsehoods from start to finish in order to mislead and trick their gullible viewers.

My own country this week arrested and prosecuted the local branch of Steve Bannon's fake news network, but the charges were for very specific things, so I don't think that's a very generalizable solution to the global problem of lying right wing extremists media funded by the billionaire elites to rile up the gullible so they don't realize the billionaire elites are stealing all their money and power.

No. I'm sure what he was actually shouting in that photo was "Here's the deal! Azuremenfure! Xi and I went to the Himalayas and found Corn Pop! Don't question me, you lying two-faced pony soldier!"

But when Reps throw out those accusations, it's accurate. How many times did Biden try and pass an EO that the courts shot down because it was beyond his reach of power? Imagine the boon Pfizer and Moderna (more than it already was for them) had Biden's jab mandates not been shot down. You have Newsom trying to ban gasoline fueled vehicles. Imagine what a profit boon that will be for EV companies in Cali. Not even the authoritarian neoconservatives can top what the left is doing now. It's in a leftist's very nature to be not just an authoritarian, but a fascist.

This was a hilarious post -- especially the last paragraph which explains all the rest. You see your fascist island utopia as the gold standard for how a country should be run.
