It wasn't Donald Trump that was going to run in 2024, but one of his sons. And his son vowed to pick his father as chief of staff if elected.

I actually think it would be a pretty brilliant move. And you know the TDS crowd would immediately direct their attacks and vitriol at his son which would make it even more obvious to everyone that it's all just political.

This happens. A person's family should have no connection to whether they are qualified for the office they seek.

Democrats don't complain about the Kennedy's.

As MM says, these folks have to be elected by the voters so it isn't like here in Georgia back in the 40s when the Governor died and his son declares he inherited the position
I'm always still in trouble again

I hate dynasties. It is an excuse for blueblood elitists to cling to power. Sort of like commonwealth countries and their royal family, only those elitists are bloodsuckers that live off the sweat of the citizens.

Not only are they not career politicians (which I hate worse), but they obviously are not leveraging any underhanded favors or advantages from the establishment* (unlike folks like the Clintons) because the establishment hates them, so any election advantage they have comes directly from the voters, which is how it should be.

No thank you. If either of them run and get the nomination, I'll give up all hope on the Republican Party. And they'll definitely not have my vote. And it has nothing to do with a distaste for dynasties, either - overall I really don't care if someone's family member runs for office after they've run for office, etc., that in itself won't make me not want to vote for them. It all comes down to who they are and who that family member is. And Don Jr. is nothing more than a slightly more intelligent and eloquent version of his father (whilst Eric is an even dumber version of his father).Last edited by Gondwanaland; 08-14-2022, 12:10 PM.
