‘Is That Intentional?’: CNN’s Dana Bash Grills Adam Schiff Over Avoiding Witnesses Who’d ‘Challenge’ The January 6th Narrative

    bash.jpg

CNN anchor Dana Bash grilled January 6th Committee member and Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) during a Sunday morning interview, asking him directly why the committee had not publicly interviewed any witnesses who might “challenge” the narrative.

Bash spoke to Schiff about the ongoing public committee hearings on “State of the Union,” pressing him several times — to no avail — to reveal the evidence he claimed to have that former President Donald Trump had been involved in plans to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Bash pressed Schiff on what might come next if such evidence should come to light, asking, “Have you seen evidence that the Justice Department has already opened an investigation into the former president?”

Schiff said that nothing in the public record indicated the Justice Department had begun to move in that direction. “I have not seen, for example, grand juries convene in places they would be convened,” he explained.

“You’ve been critical of the Justice Department for moving slowly. If you’ve done so much work, why not help them out?” Bash continued, asking why the January 6th Committee would not pass anything they discovered directly on to the DOJ.

“Well, you know, we certainly will help them. We want them to particularize what they’re asking for and it’s our intention when we conclude the investigation to make public our findings in great detail,” Schiff replied. “But, you know, we have a job to do as well. We’re doing that. And we’re doing this consistent with how the — our branch of government has operated and executive branch has operated.”

Bash continued to press, going on to ask about the witnesses whose testimony had already been made public — and asking whether the committee was avoiding witnesses who might “challenge” the desired narrative.

“Why aren’t you calling witnesses in a public way who might challenge the committee?” she asked. “Is that intentional because you don’t want to deviate from the story line that you’re trying to present to the public and, of course, potentially to the Justice Department?”

“No. I mean, we are interviewing, frankly, anyone that has relevant evidence,” Schiff insisted. “We’re putting that relevant evidence before the public and we’re doing it in a way that is the most cohesive and that we can get across the salient points to the public.”

That evidence is sitting on the stack of evidence that he still claims to have that irrefutably shows that Trump colluded with Putin.

Those are the weasel words right there.

"Relevant Evidence" - I.E. Cheery Picking
"Most Cohesive" - I.E. ignore things that might weaken our message

I'm just saying that nobody should expect Schiff to produce his evidence. After Mueller's report he still claimed he had a mountain of irrefutable mountain of evidence showing Trump colluded with Putin.

During the Impeachment Circus I he claimed that the reason they had to proceed at light speed (so Pelosi could then sit on the findings for nearly a month) because it was necessary to keep Trump from stealing another election.

At some point folks have to start realizing that this is a man who brazenly lies every single time he opens his mouth, and is willing to alter evidence to support his lies (what is it now, at least three times he was caught tampering with evidence?).

It probably should be mentioned that he is on the short list of people likely to succeed Pelosi as soon-to-be (fingers crossed) House Minority Leader.

Given how often he has been caught literally altering evidence if I was an attorney representing someone convicted while he was a DA, I would be demanding an investigation or retrial.
