    Sarcasm off...

20 senators announce outline of bipartisan deal to reform U.S. gun laws

Washington – A bipartisan group of 20 senators — including 10 Republicans — announced on Sunday the outline of a deal to reform the nation's gun laws, a breakthrough after weeks of negotiations sparked by the mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas.

"Today, we are announcing a commonsense, bipartisan proposal to protect America's children, keep our schools safe, and reduce the threat of violence across our country. Families are scared, and it is our duty to come together and get something done that will help restore their sense of safety and security in their communities," the coalition said in a statement.

The agreement would provide incentives for states to pass so-called "red flag" laws, which the group calls "state crisis intervention orders;" boost mental health resources; provide funding for school safety resources; clarify the definition of federally licensed firearms dealer; and crack down on criminals who illegally straw purchase and traffic guns.
No, we don't need more gun laws. But this is how the gun control left wins. They push so hard for strong gun control laws, until the right capitulates and settles on "bipartisan" actions. Then when the next mass shooting happens, the left will push hard for even stronger gun laws, until the right capitulates a little more... wash, rinse, repeat.

    Three thoughts...

    1. The same gun laws will likely not be stringently enforced, especially when the Democrats are in the White House (thereby control the Justice Department).

    B) In any case, boosting mental health in this regard ain't a bad idea.

III: The best you can ever expect from the Repubs is that they'll go back to the leisurely path taking us to hell in a handbasket rather than use the express elevator the Democrats insist upon.

I'm always still in trouble again

I'm sure I get your point. Garland apparently exploited the counter-terrorism polices the Reps endorsed for partisan reasons. Why would I not think the feds will also exploit gun laws (particularly red flag laws) to do the same thing?

I LOVES your enumeration methodology, brudder!

          THIS part gravely concerns me...

Among other things, the agreement would provide funding for mental health (including behavioral health centers) and incentives for the creation of so-called "red flag" laws to remove firearms from people who are a danger to themselves or others....

We have already seen this administration talk about people who show up at school board meetings as "domestic terrorists". And we know that many on the left deem Christianity "dangerous", especially when they can define it as "white supremacy".

That's why I don't like red flag laws, but still think people should report suspicious behavior.

Yes - I'm good with "see something say something", even though H_A would quickly point out that it's not 100% effective.

But, just recently, the guy who was there to kill Kavenaugh saw something and said something!

I tolerated Reisner because I liked Helen Hunt. And it was actually a show about MARRIED people and daily life!

The end game is, "Look, we've passed all these laws, and it's not stopping the gun violence. The only solution is to repeal the Second Amendment and confiscate all privately owned guns."

Not just married people but married people who loved, respected, and were faithful to each other.

Although the show seemed to "jump the shark" when Hunt's character became pregnant, and Oprah had the actors on her show for a very awkward interview about how it was going to change the lives of the characters.

                              I had forgotten about Oprah....

                              Funny thing, though...

Many years ago, my parents visited from Ohio, and we decided to have them watch "Mad About You" for the very reasons you mentioned.

The episode happened to be the one where Paul took viagra.
