  • Pete Buttigieg announces deliberate attempt to create government dependence

The fact that he admits this so openly is chilling.

The ultra-leftist Biden Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg, appears on ABC with George Stephanopoulos to discuss the solutions to the massive economic collapse that looms all around us. Within the interview Buttigieg states the Biden administration goal is to use the high cost of living (policy driven inflation) as an opportunity for the government to take over household expenses and create equity via government distribution.

If reasonable people do not intervene quickly, the executive branch and legislative branch will move to begin subsidizing and controlling medicine, childcare, housing and food costs by diverting tax dollars into the social equity system. Depending on income, the Biden administration plans to offset higher prices for Americans by providing the essential services and products they need. In essence, Democrat-Socialism with a filter of equity in distribution, ie “enhanced dependency.”

    [...]

The baseline for the approach contains the premise that inflation is driven by too many people chasing scarce goods. Thus prices are rising. This is how the Democrats look at inflation and explain the problem. Their solution is for government to buy the food at the prices they claim people cannot afford, and then sell the food at prices they claim the people can afford. [Replace ‘food’ with any item they determine]

He also blames inflation on domestic oil companies not producing enough oil despite the fact that the Biden administration has done everything in its power to prevent them from doing exactly that.

And don't fall for the bait and switch about how this administration has handed out more drilling leases than any previous administration. Sure, the oil companies can get leases, meaning they have permission to determine if a piece of land is suitable for drilling. What they can't get, because the administration refuses to approve them, are the permits required to actually drill.

The economic crisis facing the US is not the result of incompetence, it is deliberate.

And while blaming domestic companies for not producing enough... Biden pulls 3 offshore oil lease sales, curbing new drilling this year and Biden Administration Cancels Drilling Sales in Alaska and Gulf of Mexico

One trick the Administration uses is if there is a court battle over anything (and there most always is) is to let the plaintiff win and allow the court to rule against the drilling site or pipeline and then act like their hands were tied. It looks like they will be doing this in Wyoming in the next few weeks where 2000 leases are being reviewed.

I wish you would quit blaming Joe. He has no idea whatsoever what his administration is doing.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

OK I watched the entire 8 minute video (I want those minutes back!) and while I dislike Bootygig immensely, He didn't say that at all. What I really dislike from either side is when they twist the words of someone to fit their own agenda, as the Conservative Tree House did here. What he actually said was that the government was trying to help families by doing such things as lowering the cost of insulin. Something Trump also tried to do. I guess that makes Trump a socialist too?

They knew about the problem with baby formula back in October.

They started working on the problem in February.

Nobody told the duffer about it until April.

Fracking should be quite profitable again. I'd like to see this industry take off again, maybe Mexico will allow them in.

He mentioned insulin, childcare, and housing as an example of the sorts of things that the government wants to regulate prices on. Stephanopoulos then referenced a New York Times editorial written by Congressman Ro Khana saying that government should purchase "surplass" goods like oil, food, and baby formula which the government would then redistribute based on "need", and asks Buttigieg if he supports that proposal. Buttigieg doesn't push back against it, says the adminisration is open to any plan presented in good faith and later says he thinks it's among "a number of good ideas"(!) that have been presented. He doesn't elaborate on what any of the other "good ideas" are. The only one we hear about is Khana's plan, which is exactly as described by the source I linked to. And Buttigieg didn't object to it! On the contrary, he went on to characterize it as a "good idea".

What the CTH did was super extreme "reading between the lines" in order to make Buttigig say something he didn't say. They were twisting his words. If they quoted his exact words then did an analysis like you tried to do above, that would have been OK. But they framed it as "Buttigieg states the Biden administration goal is to use the high cost of living (policy driven inflation) as an opportunity for the government to take over household expenses and create equity via government distribution."

He stated no such thing. If a liberal news source had done something similar to Trump, you would be screaming bloody murder at how they twisted his words.

This is the sort of inane nitpickery I expect from Hypatia_Alexandria. Come on, Sparko, you're better than this.

The idea of the government buying "surplass" goods to redistribute to the public was specifically mentioned, and Buttigieg explicitly said it's a "good idea".

No MM. He didn't say what they directly claimed he said. Did you watch the interview? I did. You know I am a staunch Republican and can't stand Buttigieg. But I dislike news stories that twist someone's words even more. Heck we are just talking about how they do that in that other thread about CNN where you mention how you know now they do such things because you were a news photographer. This is an egregious example of twisting someone's words and making a blatantly false statement about what he said. The Conservative Treehouse is a rag.

Or perhaps you are just such a wacko fanboi that you are unable to see that even our own side sometimes engages in the same despicable tactics that liberals do. Again, I am against either side trying to twist the words of people to create a talking point.

I don't disagree with that. I just don't see that is the case here for the reasons I have explained.
