I sincerely hope that the omicron variant, which seems to be the cause of the massive spike in new cases, is nowhere near as lethal as the preceding variants.

    And?

Many say it's like a cold.

I know both vaccinated and unvaccinated who had it over Christmas. Same symptoms for both, same time to recover.

I think the trouble ahead is a ginormous red wave tsunami.

So far from what I read there has been only one report indicating that it's lethality is anywhere near that of the Delta or earlier variants. All the others put it at somewhere around a bad cold to the flu (note that tens of thousands of Americans die every year because of the flu).

I'm always still in trouble again

Actually, if fatalities start dropping rapidly as the Omicron spreads (it's rate of contagiousness has been likened to measles), old Joe could get a boost as the MSM will surely try to give him all the credit. It is the only foreseeable way I can see for the Democrats to hold the House and Senate

I hope the indications that it is less lethal are right.

Well actually actually, it doesn't matter.

A new fold will be found in the fear porn, and another booster will promise sunshine and lollipops.

Having no booster will be like making bricks without straw. People will complain, that's about it.

I say this because it hasn't changed yet in two years, so I'll just assume it will continue.

The ginormous red tsunami though....we'll see.

Omicron burned itself out in Africa where it was first discovered without causing a single fatality.

It does seem to be the case - reports from South Africa are showing Omicron ICU cases and fatalities are about 25% and 4% compared to previous variants. Unfortunately omicron is also infecting a lot more people, which counteracts that somewhat.

According to a BBC report yesterday omicron attaches and breeds higher up the respiratory tract, making it both more easily ejectable and less likely to affect the lungs, explaining both the greater spreadability and the reduction in severity.

And when he deviates from that, you'll have cause. As of now, his comment was factual. We don't allow banning people from threads without just cause.

As best I can tell, his comment is completely unverifiable and probably false. There have been a dozen or so omicron fatalities in the UK in the last fortnight, so omicron is not non-fatal; various reports are estimating that omicron fatalities are about 25% of those of delta rather than 0%; and South Africa doesn't have enough facilities to determine which variant was present in each of the ~600 covid fatalities they had last week.

I was hoping not to have to derail into the details of a dubious unsupported and unsupportable claim. I'd rather stop here.
