Deaths from all causes includes deaths from car accidents, falling off ladders etc so forth and so on. With 2/3 of the population vaccinated, it stands to reason that deaths from all causes would be close to 2/3 (vaccinated) as against close to 1/3 (unvaccinated). The proportion of the population vaccinated is close to 70%, so 2/3 of deaths from all causes should be expected to occur among the vaccinated.

Since the chart is normalized that issue doesn't exist in what we are shown.

The brown line represents weekly deaths from all causes of vaccinated people aged 10-59, per 100,000 people.

The blue line represents weekly deaths from all causes of unvaccinated people per 100,000 in the same age range.

I believe CD was noting that it is deaths per 100,000, not total deaths.

Normalized, per 100k. I've read that as death/100k in the group that the line is about, which is the way you would go about creating a chart like that. I guess it is possible to create lines of deaths/100k in total country, but that would be incredibly dishonest chart work.

No - you read it correctly. deaths from all causes/100k/group (vaccinated brown, vaccinated blue). I'm guessing that the chart serves some sort of purpose, but what it might be escapes me.

People with pre-existing conditions were prioritized to get the vaccine among the younger age groups. Unsurprisingly people with serious pre-existing conditions have worse health. More news at 11.

Also a lot of healthy people say to themselves "because my immune system is fine I don't need the vaccine". I could quote a few such people from this forum. If healthy people refrain from getting the vaccine, and unhealthy people get it, which group is going to die more on average to non-covid causes?

So, I went to the article, followed the link to the ONS, downloaded the data table, and was able to re-create the chart. The chart is an honest representation of the data from the official source.

I read his article. The worst line in it was this one:

I don’t know how to explain this other than vaccine-caused mortality.

The problem is that the dataset he has doesn't provide enough data to truly support his conclusion. There's enough data in that set to explain why he came to that conclusion, and there's enough to justify further research. But he's making a very large jump to reach that conclusion. Crucially, what's missing is the cause of death counts that make up that dataset. Without that, concluding that it must be vaccine caused mortality is over-reaching.

From his follow up article I am guessing that he has mistaken "deaths from all causes" for being synonymous with "overall deaths" (from covid).

I don't think so. But I avoided commenting on his follow up as it seems to be less direct data driven than the first and more opinion and tangential talking point based.

So maybe we should stop speaking English until after we reach age 60.
