The polling of the popular vote was correct within the margin of error, which, as the polls predicted, Hillary won. Where she lost was in some closely divided states where the margin of error went in the other direction.

IIRC Hillary was given 95+% chance to win in most cases based on individual state polling results. I am not aware of any poll that attempted to analyze and project a nationwide vote result as that would have been a complete waste of time since it doesn't matter.

The Democrats lost because you can't call a large group of your usual supporters "racist", "sexist", "*phobe", "deplorable", etc. and think they're going to continue to support you. The erosion of jobs from the upper midwest has been palpable over Obama's term, and he's done nothing to fix it, and Hilary said nothing that would fix it (although she did say she's put coal miners out of work.)

What Donald Trump found was a large group of Democrats in these areas who resonated with Trump's refusal to bow to "political correctness" and the neo-fascism of "tolerance", and his promise to bring their jobs home. The Democrats are now a "coastal party", where the actual "politically correct" and "tolerance" crowds live, and have been disconnected from the middle class, whom they've been attacking and taking for granted for far too long. They missed the clarion call from 2010 and 2014, hoping to hold onto 2012, and have lost their grip. Unfortunately, the Democrats only have two unpopular ways to go: More of the same, or socialism. Neither are going to be palatable to the voters they lost.

I am genuinely surprised that the Democrat party seemed to have only one play in their playbook: accuse the other guy of some social misstep. But honestly, it's the only play they've needed for years because the Republicans have always dutifully played the game according the rules laid down by the Democrat party.

"Oh no! The Democrats accused us of being racist! We'd better make sure to 'manage' this crisis and back away from whatever it is we're trying to do or we'll never win another election!"

But this play didn't work against Trump, and they lost the election because of it, but they apparently have no back-up game plan, and so they're floundering about with the same strategy that failed to win them the election. They really don't seem to know what to do now that their only move is ineffective.

Yep. As have the rest of the democrats. Their delusion is that Trump is the evil Emperor and we are just as bad for voting him in. That they have done no wrong, and somehow the election was stolen from them. They continue to berate the republicans and Trump every chance they get, calling them nazis, racists, homophobes, etc.

They just don't get it. They lost. They lost BIG because most of the country doesn't agree with their political correctness and liberal agenda. We are tired of being accused of being racist while they go around shooting cops for enforcing the laws. We are sick of them saying that women have the right to murder their children. We are horrified at the idea of letting men into women's bathrooms and locker rooms where our wives and daughters could be put in danger. We are fed up with the liberals. THAT is why Trump won. And now, the liberals need to deal with it. They need to recognize THEY are the problem and the reason why Trump is in power.

Complaining that the election was rigged after they lose seems to be a knee-jerk response among liberals. Hillary repeatedly made that claim about the 2000 election (as recently as a month or so before the 2016 election) as did Obama in 2008 and Howard Dean while chairman of the DNC about the 2004 election. And yet it was only Trump that the media ruthlessly attacked for saying an election was rigged. Go figure. You'd almost think they were partisans.

This inability to accept that they lost because the people rejected them has led to their losing 13 Senate seats and 69 House seats in Congress along with 12 governorships since 2008. Further, they lost control of 30 state legislative chambers and more than 900 state legislative seats putting them in the weakest position they've been in since the 1920s.

But its all because of stolen elections

Yeah, I'm sure she's comforting herself with that very thought.
