Maybe. So?
Well good point in the sense that you'd think getting out of Afghanistan should result in savings on defense spending. Yet congress has, as per usual, increased defense spending. Which went through with, as usual, very few objections, and none of the people who claim to be concerned about the debt and deficit screaming "but how are we going to pay for it?!" It is suspicious that people who pretend to be concerned about the debt are always fine with spending more on the military but not fine with spending a small fraction of that on the American people. In general I regard the US's absurdly absurdly high level of defense spending as a horrible joke, and I would cut that budget by half and redirect all that money to spending on things to help the American people if I was running America. It's morally sick that the one thing all Republicans and most Dems agree on is much higher defense spending than the Pentagon asks for.
If you ran your finances the way the US government ran the country, you would be in jail. It's a ponzi scheme, borrowing more and more to pay of the previous debts.
