Absolutely not! It most certainly has a purpose, but it has been well documented that the vast majority of people don't end up working in the field of the discipline of their study - except, of course, medical personnel, lawyers - those who actually studied to get into a specific field.

And even with this, there are a lot of professionals who can't spell. I mean, even high-school level. Of course, lawyers can - and have to. But doctors can be terrible spellers, and when I see that I get nervous about seeking their services.

What's really funny is when people - like in church - are writing or revising the Constitution and/or Bylaws of the church or organization, they seem to think that they have to use "legaleze" language, and it can be rather hilarious. JUST SPEAK SPLAIN!!!!

(yes, that's how I heard it "speak splain")

The Party of the First Part (henceforth shall be referred to as "Mike, the janitor") shall remove all debris cannisters and deposit their contents into the blue-colored rectangle metal containers located in the parking facility, approximately 20 yards from the rear of the aforementioned worship structure (henceforth shall be referred to as "the church").

Usually one of my first tasks (not in the first year) at a new Church is to read the Constitution and Bylaws, and help them revise them.

We'll generally start off with a 2 or 3 page "Constitution" and narrow it down to a single page, and the Bylaws might be 15-20 pages, and we get those down to 5 or 6.

It's amazing how, every time there's a problem in the church, somebody thinks they need to add something in the bylaws to cover that.

MOST of that can be handled by Matt 18:15-17.

As a matter of fact, our denomination has MANY missionaries who are English majors who go into other countries where they forbid "missionaries", so they go as language specialists, teaching English.

That's a good in for those countries, though I hear some places are beginning to restrict even that. The ESL thing never panned out since everyone speaks English in Alaska, which is kind of good for us since Yup'ik is a tongue twister of a language.

We were in Poland years ago, and we had been told "just go to the pub and have a beer - as soon as they know you're from Texas, you'll have all kinds of locals surround you, wanting to perfect their English, and learn Texican".

Sure enough, we'd stop in at the local pub, and before you know it we were having Bible studies and the locals where learning about Jesus, whether they wanted to or not, cause they were fascinated with "Texican". We simply trusted the Holy Spirit to do the behind-the-scenes implanting.

Do we know that she actually has any degrees? Maybe she just has a big vocabulary and a Master's Degree in Googling?
