The Union -- The National Education Agency -- is evil, with a Marxist agenda and only cares about the dues of the union members (the teachers, cafeteria workers, custodians, bus drivers, etc).
The NEA is not about Education - it's about collecting money and buying politicians, and keeping their own butts in power.
So an investigation revealed the real culprits, who were then dealt with. Well and good - if the first superintendent wasn't deprived of just treatment.

Will they ever discover who created this curriculum? Now that's someone who needs to be arrested.

EGGcellent question, to which I do not know the answer, but will attempt to find it.

It seems like the book was meant for a college course and then used at the high school level. Whoever approved this book at the high school level messed up by failing to read it properly. But it is worth remembering that the prompts were not assigned to the kids. Overall, arresting someone for it seems a little extreme.

Well, there's more -- it appears it was only for kids in High School who are in College level courses, so....

But it's really dumb to ask somebody to write a sex scene that would shock your parents. Aren't there plenty of other things about which to write?

              Under those circumstances, agreed.

It shows how ridiculous it has become to strive for a college degree these days. And is why so many doctors, nurses and managers I work with can barely spell. The notion of a "well-rounded" education has gone out the window, in favor of weird trendiness and political indoctrination.

If I were starting out in the workforce today, I would look more favorably at trade schools. I believe graduates generally earn more money with their occupations and accumulated less student debt getting there.

I used to say the definition of "boat" is a hole in the water into which you endlessly throw money. Now that's "college".

I'm thinking a certain Mayor needs to up his reading skills. I'll leave alone the subject of how much further that advice might extend.

Maybe the mayor should be fired for not appointing a competent superintendent? Or maybe it would be productive to stop the blame game, look and notice that there are plenty more horses in the stable, and devise a plan to prevent similar things from happening again.

I'd lay long odds that prompt from that book was never assigned in a classroom and never submitted by a student. I'd go further and say that's probably the case for hundreds of the prompts in that book, including the prompt to describe taking a swig of beer. No damage, no foul. The prompt itself is not pornographic, and there's even longer odds the mayor knew it before he decided to gin it up for public outrage and the fringe media decided to lend a helping hand. The mayor was lying. The fringe is engaging in propaganda, and the propaganda is working.

I've tried to find a copy of that book so as to get a look at the full context without success, but yes, on what is available - someone is trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill an ant mound.

I assume that's an electrical lineman. Probably more than $80K for journeyman level, depending on location.

Yeah, point is that a LOT of workers who went the trade school route - or just worked their way up through the ranks - are making a LOT more money than college graduates who still have thousands in debt.

We have several Walmart employees in town - good people - but they have degrees in Political Science or English major ---- what job, exactly, do these people think they're going to get with those kinds of degrees?

My wife is an English major which was supposed to lead to teaching certificate to teach ESL. We wound up getting side tracked into missions up in Alaska so she never completed her credentials. So English at least isn't a total fluff major.
