Actually, I think she's just a weenie and wanted to kneel on the grass so she didn't get a booboo. You know, a creature comfort!

Perhaps Rapinoe could "libsplain" it to her

Somebody pointed out that those who are proud of their accomplishments and their country will beam with joy.

Those who are doing this idiotic protesting have to look like they've been baptized in pickle juice.

Like the line from the Steve Taylor Taylor song "Smug":

"Vain and fickle, were we weaned on a pickle? Is it in our blood?"

The Tokyo Olympics now account for 8 of the 9 lowest rated broadcasts for the Olympics in the US over the past century, including a record low 14.9 million viewers on Saturday, July 31.

Sports have taken a major hit during the pandemic. At a time when they should have a captive TV audience fewer and fewer are tuning in.

It's almost like something happened that turned off millions and millions of fans.

Funny thing, they are still so intent on winning people that weren't sports fans to begin with that they haven't realized they have one of the most forgiving audiences - if they are willing to own the mistake.

I'm just really dubious that there are that many eager Chinese fans - I kinda wonder what is going to happen when reduced ticket sales and viewship hits the NBA players in contract renegotiations.

Agreed. I've been noting the fact that they've been bending over backwards appease a group that will both never be satisfied nor become fans for awhile now.

FWIU sales in NBA-related merchandise is pretty strong in China indicating a legitimate fan base, so they may better weather the storm than others like MLB and the NFL

The NBA has all but groveled before Xi in order to stay in China's good graces. Same with Hollywood. One of the actors for the latest Fast and Furious film said in an interview that one of the countries that would be getting the first release was Taiwan, which angered China who doesn't recognize Taiwan as a country, and so the actor was compelled to issue an apology, in Chinese, just so the studio wouldn't lose a huge potential audience.

Similar to when an NBA coach said something supportive of Hong Kong democracy and Mr. Civil Rights, LeBron James, and a couple of other big name players leaped all over him forcing a retraction and apology including from the NBA itself.

                          • It really is a joy when an athlete (can't remember her name) in (can't remember the sport) joyously effervesses over the thrill she had in representing the United States of America (I remember the country) and how very pleased she is to live here!
