  • Massive Protests In France, Australia, against Covid passports and lockdowns

First, there are protests going on in France with tens of thousands of people marching and clashing with police, in a protest over Macron's implementation of 'sanitation pass', essentially a vaccine passport that you'd be required to have and show before entering a large number of businesses and venues.

All I can say is, maybe the guillotine needs to make a comeback in France.

The article also mentions some protests in London over the UK's vaccine passport plans, though not anywhere near this massive.
Police sought to push back demonstrators near the capital's Gare Saint-Lazare railway station after protesters had knocked over a police motorbike ridden by two officers, television pictures showed.

Images showed a heavy police presence on the capital's streets. Scuffles between police and demonstrators also broke out on the Champs-Elysees thoroughfare, where teargas was fired and traffic was halted, the pictures showed.

At another protest called by far-right politicians in west Paris, demonstrators opposed to anti-coronavirus measures carried banners reading "Stop the dictatorship".

Across France, protests were planned in cities including Marseille, Montpellier, Nantes and Toulouse.

An official with France's interior ministry said 161,000 people had demonstrated across the country on Saturday, up from 114,000 a week earlier.

French lawmakers are due to vote this weekend on a bill drafted by the government aimed at setting up a health pass and mandatory vaccination for health workers.

Meanwhile, in Australia, they're on their 5th? 6th? Lockdown. I've lost count. Over IIRC a 90 year old and an 80- year old dying of covid. That's literally what they decided to lock down over. I swear, it seems like the people in charge are determined to revert Australia back to the prison colony it began as or something.

Anyway, thousands were marching in protests against the insane lockdowns that have been devastating the people of Australia (Sydney itself has been locked down for 4 weeks I believe).

Thousands of protesters on Saturday took to the streets of Sydney and other cities across Australia to push back on continued COVID-19 lockdown orders amid new record case surges in the country.

Videos and photos posted to social media showed people, many of whom were not wearing masks, gathered closely together in the streets of Sydney, chanting “freedom” and holding signs with phrases like “unmask the truth.”

Some violent clashes erupted between protesters and police, who tried to disperse the demonstrators to prevent further COVID-19 outbreaks in Sydney’s state of New South Wales, which reported 163 new coronavirus infections on Friday.

New South Wales state Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced last week that Sydney would be extending its coronavirus lockdown for the second time, with residents only allowed to leave their homes for essential activities until July 30.

The city has already been under lockdown for the past four weeks, spurring backlash among residents who wish to return to normal activities following more than a year of safety restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that police on Saturday arrested 57 people and issued 90 fines against protest participants, with law enforcement still searching for a man who was photographed punching a mounted police horse.

The New South Wales police later said in a Facebook post that the horse was “safe and uninjured” following the encounter.

Thousands of people also gathered to protest coronavirus restrictions in Melbourne Saturday, with some lighting flares as they gathered outside Victoria state’s Parliament House, The Associated Press reported.

One banner held by Melbourne protesters read, “This is not about a virus it’s about total government control of the people.”

One banner held by Melbourne protesters read, “This is not about a virus it’s about total government control of the people.”
Many on social media condemned the actions of the anti-lockdown protesters, including New South Wales Labor Party leader Chris Minns, who tweeted, “The images coming out of Sydney today are inexcusable.”
“They're an affront to all those putting their own lives on the line to save others,” he added. “All todays anti-lockdown protest does is risk prolonging the lockdown.”
Mills argued, “We won't get through this virus unless we follow the health advice.”

The Australian government on Saturday announced it will be giving New South Wales an extra 50,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine next week to help curb the spread of infections.

As of Friday, only 15 percent of Australia’s population ages 16 and older have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the AP.

Good to see people around the world are finally starting to wake up and realize how much of their freedoms they willingly gave up to their power-hungry leaders, and how much were straight up taken from them while the media fed them a year filled with fearmongering to make them docile.

Just hope it's not to late.....

I'm really shocked about Australia. Australians seemed so content with their servitude to their totalitarian overlords.

A democratically elected government with any political policy that Sean doesn't personally approve of.

Okay..... as interesting as morality of Christianity vs atheism, problem of evil, etc., is to discuss, I not sure how things got there from my OP, which is about none of those things.....

Re Australia: Roughly 0・3% AT MOST of the population of only two cities - it isn't a statistically significant proportion of the population engaging in protest. We have indeed had many lock-downs. Only two in South Australia have affected the entire state. For the most part, lock-downs have been restricted to individual suburbs or groups of suburbs - following much the same drill that is used to contain fruit fly.
Melbourne and Sydney have been the hardest hit by lock-downs - more often and more far-reaching. Whether that is because of a broader risk, or simply for political reasons I don't know.

There was a time when increasing numbers of Australians were looking favourably at becoming a republic. That number is in sharp decline now - we've seen what can come of republics: America, Canada, France.

That's because it's easy to run a totalitarian system based on military intimidation alone when your citizens are unarmed.
