    14,202 - Texas
    1,735 - Canada

DAILY COVID DEATHS (seven day average)
    86 - Texas
    7 - Canada

Canada's new cases tend to be much less severe than Texas cases, since many of the Canadian cases are in vaccinated individuals who are much less likely than the unvaccinated to have symptoms severe enough to require hospitalization.

Taking into account population size, the Texas death rate is currently 16x the rate in Canada and rising.

Canada is also going through a fourth COVID wave, caused primarily by the 20% of Canadian adults who refuse to be vaccinated. I won't be surprised if, at some point, we will have to reinstitute mask mandates. Canada's situation should improve once vaccines are approved for children under the age of 12.

As an aside: a member of my congregation is a high level medical researcher who has been doing COVID research for over a year. He still wears a mask in many public settings, even though he is fully vaccinated. I asked him about this a couple of weeks ago after church, and he said that under the circumstances it is a reasonable precaution to take. I've decided to follow his example and wear a mask when I'm surrounded by people, for example, when I go grocery shopping.
You forgot one very important statistic that might be a variable:

    RESIDENTS PER SQUARE MILE:
    109.9 - Texas
    11 - Canuckistan

I also notice how folks like you love to take "snapshots" like this since it allows you to cherry pick specific times that can be used to demonstrate your point while ignoring all of the times they would contradict it.

I dutifully, if perfunctorily, removed my mask from my pocket, preparing to comply with store rules. Then I looked around and saw NONE of the dozens of customers in view wearing masks. I returned my mask to my pocket, and quietly rejoiced at people showing their faces and upholding their liberty.

                  Yup.

I can say that I certainly did not expect that, and appears to be something new -- at least according to this:

                  1_jZ6eHsATHgrxNdGSyL9Syw.jpeg

All other groups show a reduction in the number refusing to be vaccinated whereas those with PhDs actually went up a tiny bit since April moving them into the lead.

While declaring that all foreigners who come to the U.S. legally must be vaccinated, old Joe is letting them stream across the border not just without a vaccination but also without even testing them.

Note the word "nearly." That is because that while they will require those who legally enter the U.S. to be vaccinated, those that enter illegally, and who are released and get stuffed into busses to be shipped all over the country, will face no such restriction. They aren't even being tested to see if they're sick (Mexico has been experiencing a major resurgence in cases rivaling anything seen so far)

As noted, the government won't even test them before releasing them unless they are obviously sick. A few cities test those bussed in like Brownsville, Texas, and they found that 6% are infected with Covid. After the cramped bus ride I'll bet that number would be much higher if they tested them a week later.

And so many are being shipped out to cities across the country that the bus companies are struggling to meet the demand. Each of these buses are potentially a super-spreader.

Greyhound for one is now telling the government they want evidence that the illegals they are shipping don't have the Chinese coronavirus. It should be interesting to see if they comply while simultaneously preparing policies that limit travel for those without proof of vaccination.

Tell me again why anyone should be surprised that cases of Chicom coronavirus are now going up in Texas?

Really? Despite the numerous studies showing that masks are all but useless for stopping a virus? Almost sounds like he's more paranoid than informed.

Mask use in my city had dropped to near zero a few weeks ago but appears to be slowly creeping up again. Thankfully, no stores have yet adopted a mask requirement for entry, and I have a feeling most people would ignore it if they did.

You are assuming that the population density of Canada is constant across the entire country (e.g., you are assuming that the population density of Baffin Island, which is almost entirely north of the Arctic Circle, is the same as the population density of Greater Vancouver or the "Golden Horseshoe" in Ontario). Your assumption is false.

In reality, 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border, a geographic area which, by coincidence, is roughly the size of Texas.

The "Greater Golden Horseshoe", where over 9 million Canadians live in an area 1/22nd the size of Texas, has a population density of 759/square mile

Considering his education level, and the extremely high position he holds in the Canadian medical research community, I decided I would be a fool if I were to refuse to follow his example. I am certainly no worse off by wearing a mask under some circumstances. Seems like a reasonable precaution for me to follow, to protect both myself (if I am in the presence of infected people) and others (if I am unknowingly infected with COVID).
