    Yup.

The party that has been rallying around eliminating the filibuster because "The minority should not be able to hold up the majority" are looking to leave the state so that their minority can block the legislation of the majority.

Really makes all of those talking points about the filibuster ring hollow, does it not.

If they refuse to do their job and leave the state, then they should be removed from office. If I ran away from my job I would be fired. If I were in the military I would be arrested for being AWOL.

The reason Democrats usually leave the state when pulling one of these states is because they know they're breaking state laws. They should be informed that when they return they'll be facing warrants for their arrest.

I just find the party hypocrisy to be funny. "End the filibuster, a minority of legislators should not be able to stop majority rule!" "Good on those tx legislators, they are stopping the republicans from ramming through legislation we don't like"

I was about to say that you can find this sort of hypocrisy on both sides (the party's view on filibusters completely shifts whenever there is a change in the majority), but I can not recall hearing of Republicans fleeing the state in order to stop a vote. Texas is far from the first time for the Democrats.

Care to wager that if the Republicans ever pull this stunt that a very outrage MSM will suddenly become opposed to it rather than cheering it on and offer up a steady barrage of blistering criticism?

Oh, they have. I think Oregon Republicans did that. Democrats were yelling about how they needed to "do their job".

On further news, a minority of Texas legislators have made the personal sacrifice of taking chartered jets to dc to stop majority rule in the legislature.

The Dems seemed by and large fine with the filibuster at the federal level when it was a rarely used tool, that allowed the minority to block a tiny number of issues they felt really strongly about.

The Republicans in recent decades have hugely ramped up federal filibuster use, using it to block close to every single bill that Dems bring on every single issue, to the point where no bills can pass at all. The Dems are, reasonably, getting a bit upset about that. But not yet to the point where they've removed the power.

The Dems in Texas feel strongly about people having the right to vote, so they are making use of the filibuster in this one instance.

If the filibuster gets to the levels of use by the Texas Dems that are comparable to how often the Republicans are using it at the federal level, then you'll have a point. Until then, your thread is basically "how dare they do something once or twice that our side has done 500 times! That's outrageous!"

You might need to readjust your perception.

Nominees are a bit different to legislation.

In your second link, Schumer says as much, as says he doesn't intend to use the filibuster on legislation like the Republicans did.

You just said it was rarely used though. The fact that they nearly doubled the number of filibusters in 4 years of Trump that they had in 8 years of Obama is rarely used. Now you've got to go back to special pleading.

Besides, I should remind you that democrats removed the filibuster for all presidential nominees except SCOTUS in 2013, and Republicans removed it for SCOTUS in 2017.

So much for "elections have consequences". They're on private jets vacationing in DC on the public dole.

No, they're opposing what the overwhelming majority of the country wants - easy to vote, hard to cheat.

This kind of outright falsehood is why nobody should listen to you. You are constantly sucking up the lies of the loony left.
